(yes i am watching the muppet show right now lol)

i dont understand why everyone does not phoenix their cps 2 boards its freaking easy and even if you dont have a burner the chips can be purchased cheap

i pick up up a cps2 big blue with a xmen vs street fighter board about 2 weeks ago in a 2 game purchase paying 75$ for the pair (other game was all american football)

the cps2 cab had a cut power cord and was sposed to be not working

got her home new installed new power cord fired it up and lights are on but shes brain dead just got a green screen

soo upon removing the cart i noticed that it sounded like a skittle was rattling around inside hmmmm

opened her up and found this

2 weeks and 80$ later i recive my burner and eprom eraser

so today i clean all the old bat acid of the mobo
replace 2 caps that were pretty much turned to go by the acid

fire up my pc open mame and locate the phoenix files (ps i have heard people say that the mame files are not correct well for xm vs sf they are )

load up a handfull of 27c4002 eproms into the eraser
go buy a pack of smokes and a full throttle at the gas station
come back slap a chip in the burner and bam 1 chip riped
repeat with the other 2 files

and bam after 2 week's of being stuck with crappy xmen cota and simi ok darkstalkers i finaly have a fun cps2 game to play in my dedicated cps2 big blue

Its pretty easy to find cps2 stuff right now for cheap. You're lucky. I collected all of mine when everyone else was so I had to compete. Just a few rarer titles I still need.

Some of the games had the phoenix files leaked out to MAME but not all of them. I bought most of the files or traded for them. 4 or 5 of my phoenix sets came from MAME.

so far i have been pretty lucky with the mame files

i have done
darkstalkers
xmen cota
super sf2
streetfighter alpha
dungeons and dragons som
marvel vs capcom
xmen vs sf

i just got done replacing batson 10 cps2 boards for a guy and had 1 board sucide in the process im glad it was the d@d and not the 1944 or one of the other boards that are not on the mame set

i wouldnt mind tossing raz a few bones for his efforts since he did do a lot of worrk decrypting the roms

it would be really nice to run a How to Burn chips thread....
I have a burner but never got around to learning how to burn chips yet.

I worked for Capcom so I had them revive a CPS2 board and it died less than 1 year later, I was totally pissed.

The last technician left them and they pulled all of the hardware back to Japan. No more service for anyone anymore....

It may not be legal but I totally think it's ethical to be able to repair your own boards. Maybe not to Razoola since he wrote the Phoenix fix but still...

Capcom's Suicide is like the worst thing for JAMMA. It's the sole reason why probably CPS3 turned out to be such a failure and there are like almost no working English boards anymore, no one wants to buy them cause at $400+ they can still suicide at any give time just cause they are so volatile.
