No it just piggybacks onto the one that is in the NES.

Hopefully this will cut down the amount of PPU harvesting thats been going on.

And yes I do hope it cuts that down so RGB PPUs won't be taken from perfectly fine PC10/VS boards just to RGB an NES... Not that there's anything wrong with doing so, it's just that these PPUs are getting harder and harder to find and the arcade boards NEED the RGB PPUs whereas the console don't necessarily.

Just an idea to throw out there. I was reading the forum post and noticed that he said the board could be programmed through USB to support games with different palettes, etc. Since this does latch on top of any PPU, could the device potentially be modified to produce a 15khz CGA RGB output and latch on top of a normal NES PPU, so basically it would be a somewhat authentic PPU with RGB output and palette switching?
