one thing you wouldn't know today had it not been for a KLOVer

Obviously I wouldn't know a ton about fixing these games if it wasn't for the folks here on KLOV, but one thing that I learned here and appreciate most is in regard to my current avatar, the '82 World's Fair Token. I was at that fair, and remember knowing "of" the tokens, but never got to get any at that time. I later found out here at KLOV, by noice (one of the token kings here) that not only had they made fair-specific tokens, but that they made 7 different ones to highlight popular arcade games of the era (Ms Pac, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Scramble, Qix, Space Invaders, Gorf). Thanks to his teachings, AND his help, I now have all 7 of them.

What have you learned from another KLOVer during your time here? (can't wait to see the sarchasm that will ooze out from this topic LOL )

Nothing beats a dedicated machine.

Vectors are awesome.

Playing the game is only part of the experience.

Major Havoc.

JAMMA was the end of an era, not the beginning.

"keepers" are games you sell within a couple months (sorry Jow :))

Honestly, I have learned everything here. If I never found KLOV, I would only have a 60-1 and maybe a Ms. Pac Cocktail.

Since joining KLOV I have been able to reconnect with a number of former RGVACers and meet lots of other nice collectors are well. I appreciate the large diversity on KLOV, both in people and discussions.

One thing I wouldn't know today if it were not for a KLOVer... that is hard to answer directly 1) I recall seeing discussion about several games this year that I had never heard of or seen. 2) Finally getting pictures of a dedicated Space Demon mini 3) Getting a heads-up about a game I have been looking for some many years (see my other post for details).

Klov and getting laid does not compute :)

List is too long on tech tips that got me geared in the right direction on repairs. For the most part, that era of tech section is long gone :( Channelmanic still remains and we have got new blood since then that is helping at filling the lost gaps.

Free cab = crap, lol :)

Untested = Known Not Working

Blue PCB = Bootleg

Restroom tokens works on Skill Slot Machines (free plug for you Noice)

a jazz/funk keyboardist changed your life???? wonder if he can play DK

I learned from KLOV that Billy Mitchell existed... my life changed forEVAR.

I learned that "King of Kong" is probably not my cup of tea, given the perpetual slapfights it seems to create here.

I also learned that the same philosophical rifts regarding originality appear in video games as they do in other hobbies. For some reason I was surprised by the hostility some people had towards emulation, etc. Who knew 30 year old games were such hotbeds of religious fervor?

I found out that my Centipede cocktail has a power switch hidden on the bottom.:)

I would have not known about the hobby in general , or I should say the fanatical nature of the hobby if not for a fellow KLOVer.

Now I'm just as screwed as the guy I met, always looking for new machines and flat out addicted.
