Joust had a peculiar cocktail cabinet design, placing both players on one side of the cabinet. I can't say I can think of any other machines that did this. (Although there's a Japanese Neo Geo cabinet that's sort-of-cocktail-y, it doesn't really fit because it still has a vertical marquee above the monitor.) Can anyone think of any others?

You know, let's just discuss oddball or unusual cocktail cabinets in general. What are some neat ones you think people should know about?

Was googling around and found another one!

Sega Aero Table:

 Want. Probably really pricey though, and that's before import duties.

I think Splat! cocktails were one-sided too - same cabinet as Joust - but I don't remember. There might only have been one.

I had a chance last summer to piece together a Thief cocktail. Dunno too many people who have a working one of those! Funny-looking machine.

A little googling tells me Splat! did in fact come in the same cocktail cabinet as Joust. Pictures here: http://duramold.rotheblog.com/williams/splat-cocktail-ebay-auction/

Knowing that, I don't think I'd feel so bad about converting a Joust or Splat cocktail to JAMMA/JVS/MAME, assuming I can save any artwork worth saving. Can I find one though? Good question.

It does look goofy.
