one of the wife's grails acquired (slightly OT)

Mark that is our exact plan (for bday parties etc). Can you tell me where you got the compressor from?

Would love to see a pic also!

If you have a coke/pepsi distributor local to you, try and get ahold of them. I talked to the operator who ran our vending machines at work. He said he used to get perfectly good scrapped compressors for free from them. IIRC, the compressor on pop machines is pretty much universal.

Cool, thanks.

Looks like I may have found out what model it is:

I want to thank you guys too for being here to share this acquisition with. Neither my wife's family nor mine really considers these things interesting (games, machines, etc), and our few friends could either care less about this stuff or, get jealous because we have things like this and they don't. It sucks when you're really excited about something like this that you've scored, and when you go to share it you have to hear "well that was a waste of money" or "what in the hell do you plan to do with that thing??". At least here at KLOV, people appreciate the whole aspect of it: the hunt, the fact that you made it to the seller's location without the seller switching directions and giving it to someone else, the feeling of accomplishment knowing you got this pig of an antique into your vehicle, the fact that you got it home without getting killed or pulled over, and most of all, getting the thing OUT of the vehicle yourself and into its new loving home. People who don't do this kind of thing tend to miss all of those 'minute' details!! I thank you all.

+1 on that brother, I feel your pain.

And nice deal for $50. I echo the sentiment about getting an 80's looking one like that Pepsi one (which is perfect - I'm going to have to see if I can find one like that; not too big, not too small) however, I would also jump on a deal like the one you got, it's still cool!

This update came back from a fellow enthusiast out on the Interwebs, so I thought I'd share the intel:

"very cool machine, the sign is a lighted one, if the lighting fixture is
working, the sign is held in place by a rubber frame around the back of the
plastic sign (at least my Cavalier one is) it might have a couple of screws,
not sure about that one

ebay is the best possibility or the internet for an owner's manual, I was
lucky and found one for mine a few years back
