I had picked up a stripped Ms Pac cabinet to turn into a Galaga earlier this year. Turns out it had been infested with powder post beetles in addition to some water damage. I was able to salvage a few pieces before I trashed the rest. I had planned on making patterns from the better of the two sides and build a fresh cabinet. Flash forward to Monday morning. I see an ad on Craigslist for a Gaplus kit, basically everything but the cabinet, monitor and bezel. He mentioned in the ad that the cabinet fell off a truck and was junk that he was throwing in the burn pile. I quickly emailed him to see how bad the cabinet was. He responded last night that he had just the sides and they were decent. I went and picked the two sides up, he dug an inner panel out of his trash, and I bought the nicest Midway coin door I've ever seen. So, one man's trash will hopefully become my Galaga. I also picked up a 25" K7000 with a bad flyback that he wanted to trash too. Double score. Just wish I had the money for the guts from Gaplus.

A long time ago, I used to dumpster-dive at a local OP. Got many parts out of those dumpsters including sticks, buttons, panels, speakers, coin doors etc. Ha, even random piece parts like "Atari/Midway screws and bolts" were a good find, IMHO. Amazing what people will throw out. Amazing how even a small insignificant part can be useful.

Looking forward to those two cabinet sides being used to re-create a new cabinet. :)
