One bad thing about this hobby

Just to lift it high enough to put two 4 wheel dolly's under it(one at a time), will make you almost drop a nut. Even moving it out from the wall and back will make you grunt and sweat, the wheels on these cabs are horrible as well. Golden Tee cabs are pretty bad too. Every game in my room, minus the Final Lap 2, are all sitting on carpet sliders. I'm finding out that these are a must if you plan on moving games around inside.

My Killer Instinct is my heaviest game. Same cab as mortal kombats, they are heavy!@
I had a sitdown Manxx TT superbike. It came apart in three sections and each section was just as heavy as a full arcade machine. The center section was the worst.

I've moved one of those with a regular dolly.

Try moving a Danger Zone. 400 lbs, metal cabinet, and the top swivels about 90 degrees left and right, and about 30-40 degrees up and down. Pain in the ass to move by yourself...

My Kural 25 was a pain. All metal, low to the ground. I felt like I was moving a large engine block.

The one that almost killed me, however, was the dual monitor Playchoice 10. A big ass racing game is one thing. You know where you are with those. These vertically stacked dual monitor PC 10's, however, are super awkward. It's the definition of top heavy.

...and I mean "almost killed me". My wife almost crushed me with ours when I went to pick it up. I was lucky to walk away with a dislocated thumb joint and shaken nerves.

Pac-Man and Atari cabinets are the easiest stand up machines I've ever moved in my life. Even the regular old cut corner 19 inch Dynamos are more of a pain. I don't understand why wheels were considered a necessary design cut during the JAMMA age. I really wish the Capcom big blues had a wheel system. I can't even adjust mine a couple inches without busting out a hand truck.

I have to agree ms pacman isn't that bad but sometimes it doesn't take much to mess up your back. I know people who have just stood up and slipped a disk in their back. Now you want some cabinets that will break your balls try Rampage or Double dragon (that cabinet feels like its made out of a stack of bricks).

Or this beast:

Try one of these cabinets. They don't look particularly heavy, and they have 4 wheels, so they roll pretty easily, but once you have to lift one... OOMPH! Just imagine, that instead of wood in your Ms. pac, you have metal... and I don't mean aluminum or magnesium.

I picked up one of those for $5 at the Mesquite auction last year. It had a great monitor in it. Everything else was junk - It came from a flooded area. Everything 2 1/2 foot down was all rusted out. You could see the water line inside the cab.

Cabinets are heavy.

I messed up my back pretty good Friday night while unloading a Ms. PacMan from my truck by myself. I have had lower back issues and should have known better than to mess with it alone, especially since I was already really tired when I did it.

What really stinks is I had two other games to pick up this weekend but had to put them off until next weekend at very least.

:(

I feel your pain as well,i have moved every game into my house myself. It isn't too bad,my van is same height as my porch,so i just back up close and slide them onto the porch, push them inside and stand them up.The only one i had help with was my gold wings pin rzgrip was kind enough to donate and deliver lol.Anyways,i flared up my siatic? nerve about 5 weeks ago moving a dresser, luckily i am laid off so i can rest it sort of.So it is hard to walk upright and donnyj makes me an offer on black pyramid and disco fever pins that i can't refuse.I go get em and loading them is a breeze with a dolly and donny doin all the work, great guy.I can't believe we got them both along with my 2 kids and girlfriend in my minivan lol.Anyways,i get home and unload disco fever first,it is the lighter of the two,get the legs and head on and my back is screaming but i am too excited to wait so i unload black pyramid. This one is considerably heavier than disco fever,it was all i could do to slide it into the house.I'm dying with more balls than brains and consider just pushing it the 60 feet to the game room,i can't get it to go but a few inches at a time.In comes my useless daughter with a skateboard,i rolled the pin on its side and she put skateboard under it and i rolled it to the game room.Apparently i don't give my daughter enough credit,it was a great idea,i'm to hard headed to have thought of it.I then taught her how to put pin legs on quickly and how to work faster and make sure her feet are clear as dad hollers to hurry up lol.I have had 3 shots of who knows what and plenty of pain pills, got a shit load of x-rays to satisfy the insurance company as the dr says he don't need those, what he needs is an mri but they wont pay for one till we do the x-rays.
Sorry for rambling on,must be my midnight cocktail..2 robaxins,a perc and a flexeril.

I had to lift up the back of my EDOT by myself while my brother slid a dolly underneath it so we could wheel it down the ramp of the U-Haul truck.

And later I had to move it by myself in the garage AFTER the dollies were removed. That's a bitch! The dollies had to be removed because they added too much height to clear the garage entrance.

This is the one I had to help a friend move. Up a flight of stairs with a 180 turn in the middle.
Thing must have the biggest CRT ever made in there. It took 4 or 5 of us to eventually do it.
We tried with 3 guys at first. I was pulling the hand truck, tipped it back and that was it. I could not get out from under it without the other two guys pulling it off me.

Next time anyone mentions showcase anything, I am busy.

i moved 2 33in showcases about 2 weeks ago by myself, it sucked

i had no choice but to lay them down in my truck, and they are awkward!

I picked mine up for $5 too! Mine works though. It's a pokemon print club that came with toner and stickers, but since the printer was turned off, the japanese error message was the only thing that was displayed at the auction. I also have 4 print club monitors in my other games... and I'll probably pick up a few more once I get rid of these old ones. great monitors.

No back problems here. That's why you need an arcade friend that lives nearby. If you dont have one, turn one of your regular friends into an arcade friend. :)

All my friends are currently under conversion, whether they know it or not... :D

I dont find the games to really be that bad to move, I think its more of the fact that most of you are in your 40's and 50's :D

how to win friends and influence people

Weight is absolutely the worst thing in this hobby. I NEVER pick up a game alone because i don't want to destroy the game, not even i want to hurt myself
