OMGWTFBBQ!! SF CE Turbo??!?

Yes but you've never heard me complain about the brittle dust rings from these china built sticks. I have had 2 or 3 crack on me and 1 was even out of the plastic bag cracked. I just never complained about them but iL is a better made stick plain and simple. You can save a buck or 2 per stick going with the chinese ones but if these are like the ONLY 2 sticks you have for fighters... get some iL made sticks.

I've built more fighting control panels than I can even count over the last 10 years. When Happ switched to china, there was a clear difference in quality.

The controls are something you dirrectly interface with and it's something I have a hard time skimping on... $2 isn't much either.

I wasn't saying not to go with Lizard Lick, but if they have shipping issues, Bob Roberts is the way to go. Yeah, $2 more isn't much but I was just making the point that I've never had issues with the joysticks I get from Bob (regardless if they are Chinese made).

Maybe I just don't play my games enough to have those rings break on me. If they do, I'll be sure to buy the iL made sticks next time.

I've beaten this dead horse before in the other thread. HF is THE version for cps-1 SF2. It wasn't just a "speed up CE" (although WW and CE are stupid slow in comparison). The overall cast received some significant tweaks. It's considered the most "balanced" of the CPS-1 titles.

As Prairied mentioned, Super Turbo is stupid hard. It literally cheats and becomes counter productive to improving even basic skills in the game (counter moves coming out with unrealistic timing corresponding with your inputs...cpu has no execution barrier (walking charge moves are the norm)). HF cheats to an extent as well, but Super Turbo is really, really, really blatant. It does not like to lose. It is completely bad ass and deep, however, as a competitive game.

My comp set ups from both Lizard Lick and Bob don't get nearly as much play as my console sticks, so I haven't really broken anything on them. I tend to be fixing and cleaning my arcade machines more than playing them. :p

BTW: BlkDog: Hold back to block high and mid attacks. Down back for low. It doesn't look like you are blocking in that vid. ;)

trust us, you'll know when you are ready for more. You'll have felt like you've mastered a couple of the characters with some of your friends and capped out on the experience. At that point ... go looking for another version to eat up.

It'll take you about 100 hours of playing and trainging before you would have matured... it speeds up if you study videos, move sheets or have someone teach you combos and stuff. Much of it is muscle memory.

These are the sticks I have. They have an embossed "IL" logo on them.

BTW - I ordered the IL EURO sticks from Lizardlick. You know, I consider that to be a pretty cheap price. $20 for two joysticks?

you have Happ Supers

You can also leave these in there. Just make sure that the levers are equidistant all around the motions of the actuator in the middle. You can get new micro switches, straighten your microswitch levers or put the levers on new cherry switches. You can pull them off and stick them on a new switch.

No one ever missed a move because supers had a bias from one side of the microswitch lever to another. They missed it cause the lever was all bent up. I switch between supers, comps, ultimates, and sanwas ALL the time.

Supers and Comps both are fine and have that traditional feel for US cab fighting games.

And iL comps will come with the dust cap/ring matching the color of the handle. I don't know what that orange biz is all about.

Happ used to source all of their parts from iL (made in spain) they created these names (ultimate, super, comp) to rebrand it away from the industries Lorenzo name. Later on someone was bought and consolidated. They may have bought rights or molds and then moved production of their stuff to China. Something like that. This is why there is confusion between competition and eurostick etc...

HEEEYYYY GUYSSSS

Grats on SFII Turbo, IMO the best of the entire series. I wouldnt change that one out, Super SF2 sucks! ;)

cheers

i should have mentioned you should pick up some Happ Heavy Springs with your order, they make a huge difference :D

the il euro's are super nice, you should have your package by friday at the latest i'm sure ordering from L.L

Love the shot of the arcade with games like the 6 player X-Men. Also like the big blue cabs they are playing on. All this talk about SF reminds me of why I need to add one to the lineup someday.

Too much Talking about it SGG. You need to make that happen.
Maybe its just more easily said coming from the land of the Big Blues. They show up on CL here all the time.

I used to think I was into SFII and was decent at it until I read all of Prairied1ll0's responses in this thread, ha.

I haven't seen one pop up in MI other than the one time someone had a MAME converted one for 250. I almost pulled the trigger on it, but decided against it because I was only after the cabinet. Of course in hindsight the PC may have been worth a little so it wouldn't have been so bad. I do notice a lot of them on ebay are located in California, which makes sense.

3koam

They were located 5 miles North of me, right next to the NUMI auto plant that was recently purchased by TESLA. Now its sporting a new TESLA logo on it.

For this reason and the fact that Capcom was in Sunnyvale that I think that there are so many Dynamo and 3KOAM cabs in service all over this area.

Well I only worked there like 2 years. (working on a PS2 game) Everyone played 3S during breaks so you had to get proficient at that game. I would say that I'm ok and I know more about them in general more than I'm technically good at the actual fighters themselves. In the actual SRK scene I would get my @$$ handed to me. Sosage probably has more tech skill than I do. I can tell when he talks about the game systems.

I've just built a whole mess of controller sticks over the years... I may have been the very first guy to build a boxed SF2 controller for the SNES. I did this before the actual US release for SF2:WW on the SNES. (anticipation)

Did you watch his skill level in the video? No way is he going to enjoy ST!

My skill level is somewhere between non-existent and teh_suck. I just got back into fight games around xmas, and I wasn't very good at them BITD. But I enjoy the hell outta my ST.

He already has another, easier version of SFII for his training wheels. We both agree that at some point he's going to want the ever so coveted ST...well, it sounds like that time is already here. And if the easier green board is available, I say go for it. He'll learn the masochistic joys of ST on his own after that.

I love that Tesla bought an auto plant. Wonder if that's where their new studio is going to be? I believe the last one they had caught fire with a bunch of vintage gear in it.

blkdog7, grab an Alpha 3 while you're hunting down CPS2 boards. I'm glad I did. My wife hates ST but will stand at that Alpha 3 cab for ages. If everyone hates ST in your household as much as my wife, you could always turn around and sell it to another grateful KLOVer.

For those who have done a CPS2/CPS3 suicide battery replacement, which solder gauge did you use?

I can just imagine the arguements "Guile can flash kick from the standing position! The computer does it, I know you can..."

Look it another way: if blkdog7 can start to hold his own against the stupid hard cheatin' cpu, then playing humans who are halfway decent at the game won't feel so brutal.

The guy wants a ST to go with his other, easier SF game. Like I said, if he doesn't like it, then some other KLOV'r hunting for that board will end up very happy.

Oh, and any and all SF haters on this board reading this, I got news for you:

You hate these games, because deep down you know it's way better than your dumb memorize the pattern nonsense.

Much like a lot of so-called 'classic rock', sometimes when things are old, they aren't classic. They're just boring as fuck.

Quick question...

I got my IL sticks today from LL. What groove does the c-clip go in? The bottom one? Or the other one? Which is the correct more factory setup?
