OMGWTFBBQ! Sega Outrun Video and arcade update! :)

good lord my speakers were on blast and you scared the shit outta me.

Glad to see a new video! its been a while! place looks amazing man!

NICE - i'm not sure about my upright going in and out for shaking however.

You can change KPH to MPH which is a really great feature for this hack. Who in the US thinks KPH for speed?

Still looking for that SF2-CE CPO huh?

WHAT? Two Outrun Cabs? ... then again I have 2 Outrun uprights...

It doesn't. It moves side-to-side only (on the upright).

I'd like to know more about the "shaker" on the cabaret/mini version. I once thought it understood that it just tapped on the shaft, but I've never actually seen the mechanics of one.

I sure don't... that's why I wanted it to display MPH. I think a lot of people learned the optimal shift-point in km/h, though, and so they're reluctant to switch to MPH mode and re-learn. (FWIW, I shift at around 100mph.)

Oops, sorry! I thought the upright did both. Whoops!

On the cabaret it's a solenoid with a rubber bushing on the end. It moves in and out. Basically, the rubber bushing pounds the center of the steering wheel shaft rapidly.

I am keeping mine on KM/H. I like it. :)

Here are some pics of the solenoid assembly that does exactly what you thought. That rubber bumper sits up against the end of the steering shaft and "punches" it.

Yep, that's it.

BTW - I found a near exact match for the rubber bushing at Tractor Supply in their screw and nuts parts drawer bins. It was a part for a rubber stop or something. I bet Ace Hardware would have the same.

Dude - how do you have so much energy? I mean seriously you are always so amped on all your videos. How do you do it? What is your secret?
It can't be coffee because I drink that all day and night and I can't get the energy that you seem to have!?
I'm hitting 50 this year and something's changed to where I just always am tired and would rather veg on a couch. I'm asking because I'm envious of your exuberance and energy level. I wish I had that.

I am just happy! :)
