Yesterday was the OMGWTFBBQ 2010. I guess you could say it was the second annual OMGWTFBBQ party.

We had a huge turnout. Maybe 80 people. It was LUNACY! Huge and giant thanks to everyone that showed up! Tons of KLOVERS and their families. We have the greatest group of collectors here in New England! Thanks guys for making this a killer party!

We drank beer. We ate sausage. We played games. We rejuved monitors. We capped monitors. We ate cake (Burgertime Cake FTW!), we bought, sold, and traded games and parts, we had fun, we drank beer, we played games, it pretty much ROCKED!

Here's a rejuve success story from the party. Originally posted by 88mph at NEACF.com....

TurboRI brought a few monitors to John's in order to attempt to bring them back to life on his slick rejuvenation setup. After a lesson from our gracious host, we tried our luck:

Here's a 'before' shot of a 19 inch from an Outrun. The camera makes the screen look a lot brighter than it actually is. This monitor was extremely dim even at maximum brightness: (John's rejuvenator is just to the right of the monitor in this shot.)

We ended up hitting all three guns (red/green/blue) and then hit the red again. The results were spectacular--by the time we got done, the monitor looked sweet! (You can see Ron (or Rob?) doing some adjustments--he did a nice job dialing these monitors back in after the treatment.)

Next up was a 25 inch monitor that had done some hard time in a NEO GEO. Here is what it looked like--keep in mind that this monitor had *just* been recapped!

Here it is after some rejuvenation:

It will need some adjustments, but it's a lot more presentable. As John mentioned, you don't want to go nuts with the rejuvenator, as it can blow the filaments (rendering the tube useless) if you hit any of the guns too aggressively. But, if you're working with a tube that's pretty useless to begin with, what do you have to loose? As Neil Young put it: "It's better to burn out than to fade away." John also said that a lot of the problems we try to fix with cap kits turn out to be tube problems.

John, thanks again for hosting!
