Been waiting for this moment for a long time....

My Donkey Kong Trilogy is now COMPLETE!!

A bunch of us all went down to raid a warehouse in Bourne, MA this morning.

I picked up this Nintendo Vs. Cab:

Then, I quickly took my Ninty Magic Wand and turned it into this:

Which completes my trilogy along with these bad boys:

Yeeha! I have to restore this bad boy. T-Molding, Side-Art, paint?, etc.

Not sure if I should leave it DK blue or go with Radarscope Red with this one. What would you do? The red vinyl kind of scares me. Seems like it would be easy to screw up. If I don't do that, then I have to paint it. Sounds not fun.

Anyways, I am one happy boy today.

What are you gonna do with that RBI marquee? Mine is a different version with a "VS" in it, and I think that one you have is the right one.

I would like it if you want to part with it.

Nice work on the DKs. Take pics once they are all lined up.

The red vinyl is the star here. It looks awesome and was easy to install. Then again, I always seem to forget who I am talking to. What seems easy for me is probably impossible for some.(you)

Ouch.

John - LMK on that marquee, brotha.

not complete till they're all together :)

How much does the red vinyl kit cost?

If the original blue finish is in good shape and can be cleaned up, I would leave it on there. Nintendo machines have a really unique factory finish that seems to be impossible to duplicate at home.

And weren't all DK3s conversions anyway? If so, no Nintendo machine color is any more authentic than any other color.

So...off center T-Molding groove or centered? You needs some regardless.

:)

Where's the DK in that pic too?

Centered! IT's a plywood cabinet. I would have walked away from it if it was particle board. No particle Ninty's for ME.

The Particle cabs, while certainly inferior to the ply, aren't terrible (aside from the pain in the ass off centered T-Molding). They actually tend to be a bit sturdier... though I really do prefer the ply.

My DDK is ply... the VS cab I had and the DK cab I have now were both particle.

I have a serious bias against particle cabs. The shit crumbles, swells, etc. I don't like it one bit. My Toobin' is a perfect example why it sucks. It's crumbling and swelling at the edges. I hate it. So, I will never get a particle Ninty cab. Especially since most of the early games are available in plywood.

I kind of agree with you! I really like the original almost laminate finish of Nintendo cabs. And, yes, DK3 for the most part was a conversion.

I also Vote for the Red cab... but congrtz man, that arcade is getting better and better looking.

Phet do you have a thread about how to apply the vinyl or just a resto page about how you did that DK3?
