I have well over 100 games for my 360, many of which I haven't yet had the chance to play...I hunt the $5 and under titles to fill out what I have.

I popped this game in today, I've heard how awesome it is.

Well it's NOT! It fucking SUCKS. The save system is terrible, the control system(moreso the aiming) is very clunky, the script and AI characters are just downright dumb.

Why did this game get rave reviews, and why have I heard how it's so great...when it's obviously a very poorly executed piece?

I thought it was awesome the save system does kinda suck but its there so people don't constantly reload making the game easy. I beat it at lvl 50 and it was pretty tough but hell I like punishment. The sequel made many improvements over the original. I still found it to be tons of fun the AI does suck but heres the thing you don't have to save them.

It's a great game, but you have to give in to the save system, you can't fight it. If you do, you'll hate it, if you embrace it, you'll have a much better time ;) The game wasn't meant to be played through in one sitting start to finish, you're supposed to restart several times so your character will level up enough to get to the end.

I haven't finished the first one (on 360), but I did finish the second one on PC.

I had to use hacks to play through Dead Rising 2. It was just ridiculous. He ran so slow and was so weak, and zombies from 20 feet away were grabbing the character and biting his neck off.

There's a cool hack out there if you have a modded ps3 or 360 that will give you better health, weapons don't break, and you can level up pretty quick. Once you can actually DO something in the game, it becomes quite fun.

But i agree. It starts out nigh unplayable.

Rented the game last night from a Redbox, played it for two hours, then went out and bought a copy. I love it!!!! It's a blast playing co-op

You're talking about the 2nd game though, haven't played it.

I keep trying to give this game a shot, nope...can't do it, it sucks too much.

The first Dead Rising is one of my fav games of all time, well in my top 10 at least. Shooting can be a bit difficult but hey this isn't Call of Duty, if it was easy to run n gun the zombies the game wouldn't be as intense. Keep a skateboard handy and find out where the samurai sword and uzi are (google them for better explanations, they're located close to where you enter the mall from the storeroom hallway)

Take a crapload of pictures at the very beginning, play for a few minutes then let yourself die and do this 3-4 times. Once you've built up a little rank you can play through the game a lot easier, if you die again just go ahead and play through again from the start. When you know what you're doing it goes by a lot quicker and this is the way the game was designed to be played. If you try to restart from a save file every time you die you're gonna be screwed.

I bought it a LONG time ago and I have to agree some. The save system is awful and the first boss was one of the most annoying, bad controlling fights ever. I'm lucky if I invested 2 hours into this and then shelved it. Not for me, and I LOOOOOVE Dawn of the Dead!

Dude, I had no idea you could rent games out of a redbox or that they would already have Dead Island, so cool that you posted that cuz I've already reserved a copy for pickup ;)
