Omega Race Spinner W/Red Led Buttons & Cones...

http://arcadeparts.org/Machines/Parts/Omega-Race/

$50.00 - Omega Race - Spinner w/Red Led Buttons + 4 Mix Matched Cones - US Shipping $5.95

I don't know what that blue thing is at the end of the spinner but it does look broke..

Spinner spins pretty good, "meaning it's smooth" but does have just a touch of end play. Maybe a 1/4' or so maybe less. It does look like end play can be adjusted out from the bottom.

Thanks for looking...

That would be the potentiometer version of the spinner instead of the angle encoder.

The pot version was where they took a nearly 360* pot that didn't have end points. The 'click' you feel at the end/beginning of range is where the resistive wire breaks. There is no way around that on these.

In order to use this pot, you need to have the special angle encoder adpator that takes the analog voltage levels this outputs and converts it to binary for the percentage of the circle it is at.

The other version that shipped with OR's was a integrated angle encoder -- think one of those multi-port rotary printer switches. Each so many degrees activated a new switch encoding to binary directly. These are fully circular and have no start/stop point and thus no click/rough spot.

BTW--the dull nickle-like condition of your spinner knob can EASILY be brought back to life (make it look like shiney chrome again) by putting it in your power drill, and then taking car buffing compound and polishing off the oxidation. Don't use sandpaper...only polishing compound in the super-high grit range and it will sparkle light new.

Is there a preferred spinner the omega race guys like to use? Can this one I have be fixed and if so where can I find the parts?

Thanks for that post Pac...

I know that Douglas has the new Omega Race boards and Riptor has made up some kits to populate those new boards. I mean how cool is that? Full on repro's ='s bad arse...
