I fired up the Omega Race upright for the first time in months today and the spinner isn't working too great. Hard to describe the problem but the ship kinda randomly "jerks" around rather than spinning smoothly.

Is this a problem with the potentiometer? Is it an easy fix or will a replacement spinner be the best route?

Thanks.

I'd first determine what kind you have... IIRC there's an optical one and a potentiometer one. If it's the potentiometer one (I'd assume so, if it's jerky), then I'd either replace the pot, try to clean it, or maybe just spin it a lot, which should clean the contacts by rubbing the crud off.

I didn't realize there were 2 types but I'd guess its a pot. It was working just fine about 6 months ago then this. Its in a pretty dry location too so I am surprised it seems to have gotten all dirty or whatever. I'll try to take a better look this week.

+1 I have it and it is wonderful. Worth the money and shipping. Get rid of that old pot!!!

Yeah I did spot that - is it easy to install? I haven't taken a look under the CP yet, I assume this just plugs right in and fits right in, in place of the original?

It seems there are several versions too - which one did you go for?
