Well I started doing a clean up on my Omega Race with all intentions
of just tossing it in the basement and playing it. Well found one flaw then
another, then more arrgh. Okay so I've decided to do a restoration on it.

Started by stripping the side art (which was all cracked) then gutted most
of the cab. The lack of t-molding is bugging me out (Dam you Midway).
The sides and front are melamine which has quite a few dings in it (colored in with marker).

Its got some water damage on the bottom edge so I'll clean that up with the
sander.

I think I am going to rough it up with the sander, prime it using an oil based
primer and then spray it with a black gloss oil paint. I'll hold off on the kick plate
until I can figure out whether I can get the artwork or not.

I'll put up some gutted pics later.

Need a control panel with buttons and spinner? Or some front glass?

Actually I am good with both of those. I am looking for the front kick art
NOS or someone to send me the wood panel with nice art on it to scan.

I need the front plastic art right above the kick plate but below the control
panel as well in super nice shape.

I have to question whether gloss black would be right. I think you might want satin, which would be closer to the Galaga finish, but I haven't seen an Omega Race cabinet in a while.

The melamine has a pretty shiny finish.. maybe semi-gloss. Although I sprayed semi-gloss oil on my Berzerk and the melamine is shiner then
berzerk so I'll probably just stick with gloss.

I got a lead on a kick plate I can buy and scan, hopefully the art will be
really nice and wont require to much clean up.
