Picked up an Omega Race mini(minus PCB) two days ago finally after waiting a couple weeks for my schedule and the sellers schedule to ease a bit... (We both have kids so free time is at a premium!)

I picked up an Omega Race PCB off eBay last week that was supposed to be damage free in the battery area but of course it was not. (there's a long story about that here)

At any rate, didn't get anywhere with the seller so I started working on the PCB because it was a decent deal and the damage wasn't horrible. Replace two sockets, added a socket, needed two new 2114 RAMs and a new 5101 RAM, and three new resistors. I'm probably going to change four more resistors and two diodes also since they have a little rust on them.

As far as the damaged traces went, I cleaned them up, neutralized them(even though I don't think the acid was active still), and added a bit of solder on top of them where I could to try and protect things a bit.

You can tell the battery was removed right after it leaked because the damage was so localized.

I had to post a video because I was so happy it works!!! It's a crappy video... but you can at least see the game working!!! :D

Congrats! I just about got my Mini fully working. I justed the monitor recap today and I replaced the monitor xistors. I should have time to put it back in tonight or tomorrow. I can't wait to play. I really like these small midway cabs. Someone with more wood working talent then me should reproduce some.

I really need to get mine going. I've been searching for a working PCB on the bay but haven't had any luck.

I finally replaced all the parts damaged by the leaking battery. Only things left to replace are a couple diodes that look rusty for some reason... I'm almost thinking they had battery juice drip on them.

I also installed a battery backup capacitor in place of the battery and it's working great keeping the high scores and bookkeeping stats.

I know something is going to go wrong with this game... I can feel it. But until then, we are going to play the hell out of it. My high score is 287,000 on a 3 ship game while my son has scored 117,000 on a 7 ship game... not bad for a 9 year old. :D

Yeah, I do really like the blue. The only small problem I ran across is it seems some mold grew between the glass and the blue overlay. I'm a bit leary of trying to separate the two because I have a feeling the blue overlay will crack... not worth the risk really. You can't see the mold unless you hold the bezel up to the light.

Love... the... game!!! :D Sooo much fun!!!

I have a spare blue overlay with the shroud behind it still attached. If you want it PM me!
