Does anyone out there know how to remove the cushion seat in the Omega Race cockpit?

I'm working with a friend to restore his recently-acquired cockpit and we're pretty close to having it ready with the plan being to bring it to CAX, but the seat cushion is split down the middle and needs to be repaired and/or replaced.

We briefly looked it over on Saturday while we were working on the cabinet and couldn't see how to remove it.

I know the cockpit is pretty uncommon, but if anyone knows more about how to remove it, please let me know.

If nothing else, we can just buy some foam to shove in the split area and shape it and then tape it over, but it would be nicer to be able to have it repaired correctly of course ;) .

Look up through the coin door and, if I remember correctly, there is a bolt to remove (at the front/center underside of the seat).
Then shift the seat one way or the other.

What say you - @Charles Kline ? (laughs)

Given what I recall of OR construction, it would be that, or screws into each corner accessed through the coin door.

dale already posted in my OR cockpit thread.

Looks like mine is alittle loose. LOL
Should probably add a washer to that too.

Dale beat me to it! :)

Thanks regardless for the input. I'm working with another KLOV'r who knows a guy who helped him repair his seat for a Sinistar cockpit who may be able to help repair this seat also if we can get it to him.

You can do this yourself if you can source the right material and some foam, and have a staple gun.

I agree with VC, I'd add a washer. Plus that is a "garbage" bolt. At least put in a Grade 8 bolt there. (No markings on the head means not a good product).

Update - there are three bolts. One at each front corner and that other one in the middle (as shown above).

And, yes, we reupholstered the seat cushions with a different softer fabric (in a compatible Omega color, IMHO). :)
Now if only @DogP would repro the armrest CPOs. Grrr.

PICTURED: Seat (not backrest) - accessed from coin door

NOTE TO SELF: Today took the seat off and added washers. Getting the bolts back into the seat PEMs was a PITA. (trying to LOL)

great! Although it seems to me to be easier to get to from the back access door since we've already removed the mother and daughter boards. That was an event itself. Motherboard power edge connector severely corroded. For now just going with fpga replacement until I get one of my other motherboards repaired.

Nope, easier to get to from the coindoor. Especially spill protector is still stapled underneath the seat.
I ran into 2 issues.
The numb-nutz that played with it before didn't use washers so two bolts were screwed in damn near till they were flush with the wood.
And the must have lost a bolt since the third bolt was screwed in but the head was still 1/2 away from the seat so it wasn't doing anything. It was easy to get wrench on it though.

So now that I have the seat out, and vinyl is severely ripped, big holes, and much of the cushion isno hope in repair the original vinyl.
It needs new vinyl cover and cushion. Just take it to get it done? I've less time now, than resources as I'm preparing a bunch of games for CAX as well as preparing a bunch of stuff for the Amiga 040th celebratio.
The seat back is good enough, but I'm thinking if I can't get a good match on the seat, I should get both redone.
Or just buy a seat cushion at Target and throw it down there for now.
Apparently people sleep in these games so I should get a comfy one.
Maybe then I could just get a seat cover for the back if I can find a matching one.

After getting the 3 bolts out, the seat was still firmly attached to the base. I started using a screwdriver to go around the seat to try to pry it up. It gradually started coming up. It was a slow process to get all the way around it. Turns out the vinyl edge around the seat on the bottom of the cushion had itself adhered to the base and had to break that vinyl seal. We were afraid a previous owner had glued it down.
