Yep, it leaked, shorted and blew the fuse. What a mess.

What's it for as its just sitting there on the transformer?

And where/do I need a replacement?

Thanks all.

furnace supply store or similiar will have a 3 or a 4, 440 vac.
you can go with either a 3 or a 4 but they dont sell 3.5's anymore.

usually those kind of capacitors are used (like a battery) to help start an electric motor for instance in an air conditioning unit, but in this case i think its used to help the transformer with line fluctuations depending on requirements from the game.

id replace those 2 big capacitors too. the 100,000 uf and the 55,000 uf. bob roberts sells them...

Good point. I'd hate to get that changed in the mini and then have to squeeze myself back into it for those other caps.

Little reading on the MCR FAQ, looks like that 3.5MFD cap is used to self adjust the incoming voltage which eliminates the need for retapping the transformer.(I'm sure one of hte MCR gurus can give a better explaination) Kinda neat.

Also, a thread in a different forum mentioned replacign that cap fixed curl on their monitor.

When searching, those caps go by several different names.....motor run cap, motor start cap, and the old timers refer to them as oil caps.
