i got a 74 in my kitchen drawer,i aint in american or american and it came out of a galaga from germany i imported to uk.
:)

1965 is the oldest I've found in a game. I've always looked through all my pocket change for old coins, and have only found a couple older than that in my life.

Remember that any quarters older than 1965 are silver. It's easy for me to remember because I was born in 65.

I pulled this beauty out of one of my games this year!! I was PUMPED when I saw it and realized what it was!
I love the odd sound these old quarters make when they hit a surface, you INSTANTLY know it is not a normal quarter....

This is how I'm certain time travel will not be possible in our lifetimes, as each of us would be traveling back and telling our young selves to hoard every pre-mid 60's quarter, Buffalo Nickel, and Wheat Penny they could find.

Also, to buy Apple stock in the late 90's. :D

I got some change back at a supermarket once and noticed the same thing...the change sounded funny when they banged together with the other change. Pulled them out of my pocket and they were old ones like that. I almost went back in and got a bunch of quarter change from the cashier just to see if there were more in their register ;)

Hopefully you didn't have it melted down. :D

How many wheat pennies do you need ;)

I was checking at the store and an old man bought a soda and paid with all dimes. They made a funny sound when they hit the counter and sure enough they were all silver dimes.
I pulled out a couple bills and changed them for the dimes.

I bought a japanese clone space invaders cocktail. Got the machine working and realized one coin chute was jammed up. It had one of those really long coin chutes which happened to be packed full of quarters. At the end of the jam there was a japanese yen that appeared to be silver. If I recall it was dated around mid 40's.

Was looking in a house of the dead today. Found a 1951;). I look at each quarter when I count them! Always looking for the Wyoming quarters. Man was I happy! I love the sound of it when you flip it. Very cool to find one :)

I have every coin from every game I have purchased in a bin at my shop, I will have to look through and see what I've got. Doubt there will be anything special.

i found a few 10 pence coins from england, dated in the late 60's...they were in a starship1 underneath the original power supply that was mounted to the bottom of the cabinet, i have no idea how they got under there...the coin mechs on the game said 10p instead of 10c

A little off topic, there is silver left out there but you have to know where to look. Your best bet is half dollar rolls from your local bank. A lot of folks don't realize that half dollars were made of 40% silver from 1965-1969 (1970 as well but there were collector set only) and many of them are still out there due to non circulation of the half.
I have gotten anywhere from 5-10 rolls in the past, I always find at least 3 and as many as 10 silver halves. I have even pulled out a few Franklins and one Walking Liberty. Between Christmas and mid January is a great time as dumb kids will spend the nice silver their grandparents gave them on candy or toys. I got 8 40% silver Ike's that way once.

I always check my coinage when i get it back. It drives the clerks nuts. They often think i'm rechecking their counting, or think that i think i'm being gypped. Nope, just on the look out for cool things.
