Did a quick search, didnt see it, but on my Williams Flash pin, the upper right flipper is not working. The lower right one still works fine, I checked the lugs of the coil and there is power when turned on, I changed the diode, still nothing. What could it be? The problem started after I had to adjust the position of the flipper. I let the coil dangle when the assembly was apart. I checked the solder joints on the wires to the coil. Any ideas? Could it be the coil itself? If i press the flipper button and hold the flipper out, the flipper will stay out, so the EOS power is there.
Related question, I ordered a cabinet flipper switch a while back from one of the companies and when it came in it was way too short in length, were there different sized switches used? Thanks guys.

The 2nd switch on the lower Right flipper switch stack is probably not adjusted correctly. When the first EOS opens at the end of the lower flipper stroke it should be closing another switch that activate the upper flipper. The upper flipper should fire and then open its own EOS at the end of its stroke.

Ah, so the EOS switch on the lower right flipper is what actiivates the upper right flipper, makes sense. I will check tha tout when I get home. Thanks.

Sorta, but to clarify what craig said..

there will be two "EOS" switches on the lower flipper. The first one acts like normal - it should open when the flipper hits about 90% of it's travel and cut high power to the lower flipper.

That first EOS switch (normally closed) should open to engage another switch (normally open) which will trigger the upper flipper. Good luck.

+1 on this theory :)

If the stack is not set up that way at the coil, check the flipper button switches. It may be set up on the flipper button stack. That's how my Black Knight is.

upon closer inspection I noticed that the second switch was actually broken. So i need a new one of those as well as the actuall button switch on the cabinet...anyone know the best place. Like i said before, I ordered the cabinet switch from some place and i think i got the wrong peice.

They all should have what you need. Get the part number of the switches from the manual.

The manual for Flash can be found on IPDB.org

Bringing this back because I changed the switches, and still having a slow response from the upper flipper. When I hold down the button, it slowly moves to the full position, then locks on. Could this be the coil itself? I dont know what else this could be...any ideas?? Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a mechanical issue. I would check the plunger and coil sleeve to make sure it isnt rubbing.

You can manually check to see if it moves freely without resistance. I would do that first!

If i press the flipper button and hold the flipper out, the flipper will stay out, so the EOS power is there.

The stronger winding on the coil probably went open. I think that because the weaker winding is still working. See if the coil wire broke off right where it meets the lug.

EDIT: If that's what happened just solder it back on. You might need to unwrap one wrap of the wire and sand off the insulation to get enough length and expose the conductor so the solder will stick.

I checked the actual mechanical parts of the flipper. pulled the coil off, made sure the flipper spun freely against the playfield...the I checked the plunger in the coil...all good. I am going to check the coil itself tonight...hopefully its a quick fix.
