Old reel to reel recorder for The Lost Highway.....

Jim(YodaInMn) picked this up for me (awww, isn't that sweet?) last time he was in Michigan.

It's a 1960's Mayfair reel to reel tape recorder. I suppose these portable ones like this were primarily used by reporters out in the field. It is missing the microphone, but I found one here at home and was able to record and playback my voice. The tape itself is in pretty bad shape, so the quality is low.

Still, a very cool piece that I have added to the Emergency Booth.

i brought one of those to a music festival with me one year as my "walkman" to listen to in the hotel room, made a music compilation on it, people really thought that was crazy! mine uses 6 D batteries and still works like a charm.

That is cool! I've got a couple of old Kiss reel-to-reel tapes floating around here somewhere.

cool. we used to have an old one that my grandparents used to tape messages to send to my dad in vietnam. long gone, as far as i know. i haven't seen it in years.

That is awesome!!! Would be cool of you could make some scratchy recording like from a missile silo or something and loop it on the player.

You are always adding such cool stuff! Way to run with a theme!!!!

Right now with the mike I have you basically have to scream into it in order to hear your voice when played back. I don't think its the mike or the recording head, but the tape itself. I may try finding some tape on ebay, then go ahead and put something cool on there and let it run during a party.....
