I have a few of these old Mars bill acceptors that are really bo good for anything but $1.00 bills. These are ac 117v and what I wanted to do with one was make it into a 1.00 bill bank. Is there any way to make it a stand alone acceptor (when I hook them up to power they spit the bill back out)? I assume that it would have something to do with the other plug that I don't have plugged into it. Anyone here know how to get it to accept a bill and send out one pulse for one dollar? I want to hook the pulse up to a digital counter. Beats throwing them in the trash! Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the manual for the GL5 which I just uploaded:

Mars already makes an optional pulse meter kit which plugs right into the bill acceptor. It's Mars/MEI Global part number 91-16-279-4 Meter Kit available from any Mars/MEI Global service center/distributor such as Wachtor Electronics:
