Those are right out of Dawn of the Dead! ...no slight to folks from Monroeville. Guess that, much like today, all malls in the 70s pretty much looked the same too.

Here is a mall in St. Charles, Illinois, that my family used to frequent... I believe it opened in '79 and closed in '92.....ah the memories!

Did anyone ever go the Old Towne Mall in Torrance CA? When I was a kid (1975-1978) I remember going to the mall with my Uncle Mike all the time. I LOVED that place. This wasn't no ordinary mall. Hell no. How many malls do you know of that had a Merry-Go-Round ride, a flying "Bee" ride, as well as 3 or 4 other car-on-a-track "dark" rides?

I remember operating the model trains here (a HUGE setup in the middle of the mall you'd put a quarter in and operate the trains). It was AWESOME as a kid... one of my fondest memories.

I can take a drive right now down the street to our local mall, and take some photos of JCPenny, and then post them here as old vintage photos, because that store hasn't been given a facelift since the mall opened. And the store is still open, its just the store has the retro look going for it now. LOL

Here is a picture of the Orange Julius I worked at in the mid-1980's. The right side of the picture shows where the Aladdin's Castle was located off the food court. Both the OJ and Aladdin's moved to the new food court in the mid-1980's.

This is in Sunrise Mall in Corpus Christi, TX. Looks like there might be arcade machines in the old AC space.

This pic is recent but is how I recall it looking back in the mid-1980's in the food court. It had a nautical theme.

That video was also in my link. That was the mall in Crystal Lake Illinois which had the arcade where I played vids during the glory days. I think I actually have a TV commercial for that arcade somewhere. I recently tossed out a lot of my old videotapes.

Strangely, at least two of the people in that video are people I actually knew back in the day. They were younger than I am, though.

There is a scene in a McDonlads at the end. That was one of the first McDonald's built (#48). Like all early McDonald's, there was no inside seating so the train car was moved there in order for people to be able to eat inside. The restaurant was torn down a few years ago because it wasn't making enough money.

Here's the marquee of the movie theatre I still hit a couple times a year. Though they have acquired more space and increased from 1 screen to 8, their art deco marquee hasn't changed since they opened. That makes me happy.
