Has anybody used an old laptop screen for this purpose? I am thinking of utilizing a briefcase type enclosure with a 13 inch laptop screen for video. Wondering if anybody has done this and if they have any tips..

Thanks in advance

I would search to see if I could find a pinout for the mobo, or a pinout for the panel itself.. but might be tough to find.

My test rig uses a PSOne lcd that I picked up at a pawn shop for $10, and wired to support VGA

Search ebay for lcd controller board. You can buy converters that hook up to the LVDS connection on the screen. Generally you then need to match it with what type of inverter you need as well(1, 2, 4 lamps, etc). Most of these will give you vga though. I've seen some with rca imputs. Not sure if you could modify one to work with cga or if you would need one of those cga to vga up converters.

A briefcase test rig is going to be a project for me some day soon. I got a couple of 15" PC LCDs for free, so I'm going to decase one and use a converter to cope with the 15khz sync. Converters are only $40.

Ideally I will pick up a VectorVGA so I can test vector boards as well.
