Well, one thing I have learned in my short time on this site is you guys (and gals) have a way of finding info on just about anything... With that said I have been looking for an item since I first got into this over 10 years ago, no clue what its called, but I will try and describe it as it was described to me.

My sister always spoke of a booth at the local grocery store when she was a kid, she would go inside, close the curtain, put her coin in, look into some type of a lens or hole and turn a crank and it apparently played some form of a disney mickey mouse cartoon...

I have been trying to locate one of these to surprise her with, but I have no clue where to start because I have no clue what it is lol!!

Any idea's??

A quick Google turned up a few likely bits of info:

Here's a patent on one, note that the patent seems to be on the exterior design, not the fact that it's a coin-op cartoon theater. This is awfully late, though.

Ahh. This thread actually mentions a manufacturer (or brand name?) "Kartoon Korner":

Good luck on finding one! I imagine most of them didn't survive the attentions of all the little kiddies...

Not sure about the crank or the peep hole but my guess would one of the coin operated cartoon booths as seen here:

Guy told me that "IT IS A 1977 ViaCOM. IT ALSO HAS FAIRCHILDS SEVENTY 31 D-719034. ROVI CARTOONS THEATRES CORP. "

THIS IS A COIN OPERATED (25cents) SIT IN THEATER. IT WAS IN MY DADS BASEMENT UNTIL RECENTLY. WE SOLD THE HOUSE. IT IS BRAND NEW. I OPENED THE CRATE AND TOOK IT OUT. IT PLAYS MUSIC AND SHOW DVD CARTOON. YOU CAN GET THE DVDS ON EBAY FOR IT.

I've always wanted one of those. I think the one I have the most vivid memory of was like the one in the Youtube video with Woody Woodpecker on the side. I think it was at a Thriftway in the mid-late 70's.
