So I'm looking at an Ebay auction for a Satan's Hollow I've wanted for a long time. I called NAVL and they quote me something like $450 to ship it from Michigan to Memphis, TN. "No thanks" I said. I called LTL and they quote me $225. Great! So I bid and win the auction. I call LTL back to arrange shipping. Now THEY"RE quoting me $450! This is a deal breaker and could result in my first negative feedback ever after well more than 200 auctions since 2001. This is why I avoid game auctions requiring shipping. It's too much hassle.

When you call to get a quote, you should always ask for a Quote Number, and ask how long the quote is good for before it expires. That way, you have it in writing.

Check with UPS freight, as they sometimes have cheaper freight...

UPS freight just destroyed my Satans Hollow. The driver told me they were having labor issues, and there were many Scabs that have come aboard.

Dunno about that! Regarding Neg feedback for YOU

Could be wrong, but im fairly sure that since Ebay installed that STUPID 5 STAR ***** rating system that sellers could NOT cause Neg. feedback for buyers.

Ebay's reasoning: They felt too many buyers feared leaving negative feedback for sellers because they would receive the same in return.

If you explained to them you were quoted $225 for shipping and do NOT want to pay a penny more take it or leave it, the seller stands a chance of losing a pile of money. They already accepted your offer so NOW Ebay gets their commission regardless if you get your game or not.

Craigslist may be the NEW wave of ebay. EBay great in their day, However ever rising costs for sellers have turned it into a site where it only seems BIG RETAILERS can survive. Its NOT for the small guy anymore.

Ouch. What happened? Did they drop it off a truck or something? Hopefully you had insurance...

Well the seller is not responsible for the shipping rates. It may suck that the shipper quoted you the wrong amount, however that is not the sellers fault. It would not be right to leave the seller high and dry.

Yes fully insured. It is a cocktail. I will post a picture. Looks like they caught a corner with a fork. They still have it. I just got claim forms today. I told them I wanted it fixed, that I was not interested in a refund. We will see what happens. If they buy the parts I will fix it

It's a cocktail now, but did it start out as an upright? *CRUNCH!* :D

LOL. I will pay the extra next time I have something shipped, it will not be thru UPS freight.

Absolutely right! Bummer about the shipping quote.... but Shavenyak, you still have to buy the game.

While this certainly sucks, I feel even worse for the seller: he's done nothing and is the one really getting the shaft here. Hopefully RLevin can help you out...

Awesome offer Dale! Also, he might post the link to the auction if shipping isn't going to work out... Someone may want to go get the game for themselves at the winning bid price to cover the unfortunate situation.
