Ok who bid almost $600 for this?? The Act?

Interesting idea. Why in the world they didn't try to put it out as a DS or Wii game is beyond me. DEFINATELY not an arcade-viable concept, but Nintendo would jump all over it.

Considering kits for it went for a couple grand last year that isn't too bad.... Avidgeek has one of these machines dedicated and can give you the full scoop on it.

These are being sold by the company that made them (Cecropia). They put them up one at a time on eBay periodically. They've sold for far less (back in the beginning when they were putting multiples up) and more in the past. They sold a couple complete cabs too (with a big LCD monitor). My guess is that someone saw and played the one at CAX and decided they needed one.

Possibly....but the amount of kits are very few that Cecropia has to sell. After that, they're all gone. It's been at least since December that Cecropia was actively selling off their excess kits.

They made a total of 8 full-size cabinets, most of which were used at test locations (mostly around east coast). I was fortunate enough to secure one of the full-size cabs. Another known collector in CA has one as well. I know of one more in the mid-west, not sure of the rest.

The Act is a fun game but don't be fooled by its unique gameplay and animated graphics. While the game play is interactive and like no other arcade game....it can be very quick to finish, sometimes in 10 min or less.

They have (or had) dozens of these kits, and they've been selling them for quite some time (it's been a couple years now). I remember when they first started auctioning them they were putting multiples up at a time, and then not spacing them far enough apart. Consequently, some of them went dirt cheap. They smartened up, and now trickle them out at the right time. CAX just happened.... Note how they just put up another kit for auction.

I have seen the kits go for as little as $450 and as high as $1700 in the past two years. They made only 40 kits and 8 dedicated cabinets. I know for a fact that all 8 cabinets were sold and the majority of the kits are gone.

Get yours while you can... it is definitely a piece of arcade history!

I've bid on every dedicated upright and almost every kit and have been outbid! My high on the last kit was over 800.00 and I will be bidding on this one also, I hope I get one before there all gone.

I've never played one, but they've been trying to sell only 40 kits for 2 years now?
I would have guess they had many more made up...
