Well, the bat handle is a huge thing for me. I always like the games how I remember playing them as a kid. Lucky for me, a nice KLOVer sold me a spare.

There was a whole CP w/bat handle on ebay a week ago, looks to have sold for about $150...I forgot about the auction, would have loved to have this for a Frenzy.

And thank you Steve, still trying to adjust my play to your advice! Great read, I wish you could put up a 5-10 minute video of your play for the starting screens.

was the original joystick a standard 8-way? I ask because I have a jammatized-berzerk pcb that I play using a standard 8-way microswitch style joystick and am hoping that isnt a bastardization of the game, heh. I'm curious now whether or not I can crack 10k.

I just scored 10,700 on Wed. It was my first game right after I showed up at the bar. I finally beat seinologist's high score on my board. 15K hopefully soon.

Just installed a "new to me" bat handle joy on the Berzerk. Scored 7950. First game and beat my old score by 1000. (psychological, I know)

4950 is my high so far. How the hell can you guys remember the exact stick you played on 25-30 years ago? I have a great memory and I have absolutely no idea which stick the Berzerk that I played at Dreamland Roller Rink had on it in the early 80's. It could have been a fucking black studded leather dildo for all I know. Does it make that big of a difference? Berzerk Rocks.

Mine is somewhere between 17,000 and 18,000. To me, it's just a matter of when I get to a board where there are robots in every direction right when it starts so that there's no escape.

Exactly. All I can remember I remember is playing the game and losing very quickly. I have no idea if it was the bat handle or not. I was like 10 years old and I've drank a lot of beers since those days so my memory isn't crystal clear anymore. I just know I never hit 10K like I did the other day. If you guys can really remember those details that far back, then my hat is off to you.

We're all in this hobby for different reasons. A small detail in your mind like remembering the type of joystick on a Berzerk seems ridiculous, NOT remembering the type of joystick to me seems odd.

(especially when it's a unique piece that is unlike any other game)

BTW - Congrats on the great score! I still cannot break 13000!

Phet, c'mon...you know you remember the exact moment you touched a studded leather dildo...then, you heard the ice cream truck and put it down to waddle out the door...

I play left-to-right. My high score for the fast bullets version is 38k, though that was because of a really lucky string of rooms. All of my other high scores are 25-30k. Slow bullets version is only about 26k, though I do not play that one as much. If anyone has any tips on surviving the first few seconds of entering the 15k+ rooms with no shelter, I would greatly appreciate it.

I owned a Frenzy for years but had to sell it when I moved. The last time I played Berzerk was back in the day. My question is which one is harder? I loved my Frenzy and hope to get another but is it easier than the original?

I've scored over 10k on Berzerk but I've only had mine running for about two weeks and have only played once in a while. I've followed some of the strategies but haven't really gotten that much better. Need to keep playing...

I also can play Frenzy on mine and I think it's not as good of a game even though it has more to it.
