Ok I'm hunting the cab to begin my Bucky O'Hare build but I am trying to snag some parts too...here goes:

1. What's a good middle of the road Multimeter? I am not made out of money

2. Who makes not cheap but still labeled Jamma harnesses? I need one for a three button game and no start buttons

3. Who makes good Konami kick harnesses?

4. What # pin Molex connectors do I need for the quick disconnects on the control panel? (I want to wire these because it makes the cab easier to get through doors if you can take the cpl off)

Thanks for any help. I haven't really wired anything before but it's passed time that I just jumped right into this.

Extech makes decent multimeters. I've had mine for ~3 years and it's done fine. Fluke makes better ones but they're a fair amount more expensive too.

EXACTLY what buttons/controls are there on the CP? Just 3 buttons? No joystick? You pretty much need 1 wire for each button, 1 wire for ground, and then the controls vary. One 4 or 8 way joystick will have 4 microswitches so that's 4 more wires. Bob has a good writeup on how to do this on his site.

Bob makes really solid jamma harnesses; probably the best around and they're labeled. TwistedQuarter supposedly makes decent ones as well but I don't know if theirs is labelled.

I'm working on Bucky O'Hare so I have four players with one Joystick and three buttons each. It's the same setup as a four player X-men except different button colors(not much of an issue in this case as I just have to put the microswitches on the right colors). I'm thinking that I may have to rewire the cabinet when I find it and I'm keeping it mono because that is what I can find

if you need connectors i have almost everything molex and AMP along with all the quality tools, crimpers, pin removers, etc. i don't have everything i stock on my site but i have almost every .156 and .100 up to 25 circuits and i even stock all the Mate n lok amp pcb headers and connector housings. let me know if you need help with them because it can be confusing expecially since the .084 molex and amp mate n lok are almost identical but don't interchange.

OK, so 4 microswitches for the joystick plus 3 for the switches + ground. Use a 9 pin connector for each player and you'll fill 8 of the 9 wire locations.

Hmmm. I could have sworn I've used these together and they were okay.

Maybe my .084 Amp parts weren't the mate n lok? Is there such a thing as an Amp .084 that isn't mate n lok?

that is what i thought at first because they look identical but amp has told me that the connector housings will go together but the pins don't make a perfect fit because of how they are housed in the connectors so you can't interchange them.

Wow, that's not good. I've been using them interchangeably. :(
