Ok michiganders...who got the zookeeper for $350???

Pretty miffed at the guy who sold this one out from under me as it was originally posted for $200 in working condition, with minor water damage to the base. I talked to the seller two days ago and asked for better pics and when I could come see the game. He told me I would have pics of the damaged area the next day(never arrived). We also arranged for me to come see the game on friday and pick it up. Then I get an email saying sold it for $350.
Stay classy detroit craigslist sellers!

No offense, but why would you waste his time asking for more pics? A $200 working Zookeeper with some minor water damage was a STEAL. I often wonder what buyers are thinking in these situations. Call seller, confirm address, grab cash, hop in truck and go. If, as a seller, I was given the option to:

-go waste my time taking, uploading and posting more pics for a 'buyer' who will probably then lowball my already low selling price after he sees the pics (happens all the time) or never respond again (happens even more often) while I put other true buyers on hold

or

-take $350 for a game that the buyer will take sight unseen

my choice is clear.

not me... too far to go from my side of the state...

If the game is fairly local, dont get pics, emails.. call, ask to come over right now.. and go :)

one thing like me its 3.5 hours away.. but if your 30 mins or so..

I got a guy coming over tomorrow to buy a parts pop machine.. says his buddy might want another one I got... I told him great... I'll drop the price if they take two right now, he didn't even have to offer me less... I just want the room.. :)

Phet,
A few more things in my defense that I forgot to add to my rant.
1. I was one of the first to email, but it's was after 11pm at night.

2. I don't have a truck or van anymore to run off and pickup a game at the drop of a hat right now, so I was making arrangements to get my bro in laws van the next day

3. I really wasn't expecting anymore more pics to come, but the originals were dark and camera phone grainy. He only offered up the part about water damage when I asked if the cab was in great condition. I was worried about a cab ready to fall apart. I've heard some horror stories about cabs on here that were water damaged. Didn't want to waste a trip to get a cab that wasn't worth it, even if it was a zookeeper.

4. He told me it could be picked up on friday.

5. He then altered his Cl post to say. "i've gotten many emails make offer, after my agreeing to his $200 original price. In my mind we had an agreement upon the initial exchange of emails.

6. I guess I have to much faith in people honoring agreements in this day and age.

oh well, whoever got it, not mad at you just at the seller. Please post some pics!!

I got 2 guys comming to look at games off my CL ad. One is my working Donkey Kong for 500.00 this guy called last saturday night, and said he will take it, but can't pick it up till today. I have had 5 people call about, and i told them it's sold, but took thier number just in case. Buyer's wife called last night to let me know her husband would be here today at 2:30. I let her know i had 5 other people call, and i kept it for him, and price is firm or the next guy gets it.

Dptwiz,
It's good to see that some cl sellers are honorable. I'm the same way. If I make an agreement to sell, I will hold it and keep others numbers or emails if the original buyer doesn't show to get the item. Everyone wants to hold a hillbilly CL auction these days instead of sending the item to ebay. Ah well, win some lose some.

Bah - the days of a mans word being his honor or a hand shake to seal the deal are LOOOOONG gone. It deeply saddens me that I have to assume every person I deal with is a lying sack of shit and that if I want a game I better have the vehicle warming up before I even email or call. $200 for a ZK was one of those items you simply say I'll take it call me.

This winter I saw a hell of an cl deal on a snowmobile..

but I saw it at 10:30 at night.. I was up.. but didn't call because I thought it was rude..

I called at 9Am the next morning.. thinking that was a respectable time to call..

guy was nice.. but said someone called late last night was first...

I offered $50 more for it... and the guy said no.. he gave his word.. and I told him I was glad to hear that and he that he was keeping it.. he took my name and number.. but of course it was sold...

Since we are on the subject. How much would someone have bought this zookeeper for from me had I been able to pick it up. I'm including the pics that He sent to me, Now clear the prices out of your minds that were quoted earlier on in the thread, and give an honest appraisal based on these pics alone. Act as if I had it on hand right now, in the for sale section.

Whatever he was asking up to about 6-700 or so.

And yes you have to jump on deals when you can. There are way too many flakes in this world. Sellers have to assume that everyone replying is full of shit, and the games is only sold when the cash has been handed over.

I had sent him an email when he first posted it on CL, I never heard back from him until late last night and he said his best offer was $350. I didn't even reply since it looked like it was gonna be a bidding war based on his email. I did notice that he had changed his CL ad from 200 to make offer.

The hell with the water damaged base. I would think a working set of zookeeper boards would be worth $200. But you are right,Screw cl wackadoo auctions!!!!!

Amen Phet...Klovers quit bitching about others who steal deals from under you on Craigslist..if you want the dam game go get it right away or at least go and look at it...that way your there..if you want it you can buy it..if not no biggie....this idea that Craiglisters are going to cater to you is just getting fuc*ing old..People its free advertising...your going to get all kinds..not the kind, gentle seller who will take time to take fifty pictures and wait by the phone for your decision.

Well it wasn't me either, never saw it but prob would of passed it up being I never wanted a ZK and secondly I'm out of room again since my Sinistar Cockpit came home!

If I see a item I want I ask if they take paypal so I can pay right then and I also ask that they take the Ad down. And I go get it as quick as I can.
