I am going to list below the molds I have and master parts I can take molds of to make new items. I will post a price next to each and see what and if people are interested. If they are I will post a new sign up thread and then get going on the project people want most.. so on and so forth.

Outrun control panel - Formed plastic with the proper holes drilled out/cut out Nothing more. No paint. Just a cover you paint and remount. Done in white ABS so it can resist cracking and has more flex than the original styrene. ABS parts have to be baked out before you can use the plastic to form them so the price is higher as it needs to be .093 think - 75.00 +ship (10 people minimum needed to get this going)

Outrun mini control panel. This part looking at it is a total nightmare. It needs to be reinforced from the inside on the shifter area, where the originals break all the time. So this has to be made and then adhered on the inside. Also should be done in ABS as the original was done in plain styrene and then a crappy hammered paint added. This wont need paint at all. $75 + shp (10 people minimum needed to get this going)

Lunar lander new control thruster plate. The original was done in .187 plastic. Why? Who the hell knows. A .093 works just as well and has better detail. Mold is done and can be formed now. black abs and white available too if you so desire - $30.00 + ship

Monitor bubble for Midway games. .060 plastic better flexibility than the original and is brand new with a slight mod to make it harder to make it flex all the way to the neck of the tube. $40.00 + shipping

Battlzezone joysticks - 4 halves to make the joustick set complete done in a high impact resin. Pop out your original screws and nuts and add them to these. $40 per pair shipped (need 10 sets ordered to get this rolling)

Inferno/blaster joystick - one joystick halves only no hardware since i have no clue what they came with. Same black resin as the battlezone. Price is for one joystick - $25.00 shipped. (12 sticks needed to get this rolling)

So here is the list. Giving people a chance to see if we can get this done. If not no worries. I am not going to be hurt or anything. Dealers if you want a run contact me and I will cut you a good rate for a minimum run or if you want to get all these done and have them as an exclusive for your store.

FYI - takeman made the monitor bubbles at one point, heavy duty, nice stuff

Phineas -

I just want to say thank you for what you are willing to make.

While I don't need any of these specific parts, it is very nice to see people willing to usetheir skills to get these made.

Hope it works out for everyone!

Chris

I'd buy an OutRun upright control panel for sure, and a set of BZ stick halves, if molded in black. Painting the Out Run panel is no problem, as I know a good body/paint guy that would do it for me.

Also, while ArcadeShop doesn't come here apparently, you should contact him directly and see if he wants to carry some of this. I would think Midway bubbles and BZ stick parts would eventually sell.

Was the original painted, or silver plastic? Maybe I'll try scraping mine somewhere out of view this evening....

$40 per pair, as in for a pair of joysticks (4 parts)? Or $40 per pair, as in one left and right half pair that makes on joystick grip (2 parts)?

Also, AFAIK there were no "nuts" in the originals I have. Mine appear to have threaded brass inserts molded into the plastic. Am I to break apart my existing grips to extract these inserts, then pot/cast them into the new housings with epoxy?

The joysticks is for one pair, enough to do one game molded in black plastic. 2 sets, 4 halves.

If the outrun was done in silver plastic then prepare to have a heart attack. Custom runs of plastic are $3500. So the price to do just ONE per person at 10 is $350 EACH. Paint and clear coat is a much cheaper alternative.

But again it looks like we have the views, but people are not on board. I will check back in a few days. I think people had better get used to the idea that custom is NOT cheap and the materials are going to continue to go through the roof and will not be subsiding any longer. While you pick up a game cheap and want to restore it, ask yourself first if you can afford to restore it. A car will cost you MINIMUM of $50K to restore these days. While these are not cars, video game parts are custom molded and then produced. I do not do this as a full time job. I offer this as a way for people to get the things that are no longer made, when people honor what they say they will do.

So that said, it really is kinda do or die time people. If you dont its really no skin off of my nose. I am offering, nothing more.

Regarding BZ sticks:

I'm in for a set of BZ sticks if we can figure out the answer to this question:

Most of the time when people offer these sorts of things they allow 3-4 weeks for orders to accumulate. I suspect the same will hold true here. It may be weeks before people even notice this thread.

Do you have or have you seen BZ grips that have nuts instead of the brass inserts? Can you confirm that yours will not have any molded-in inserts, and that the approach would be to salvage inserts from pre-existing grips and somehow bond them into your repros?

Also, I assume you're not planning to injection mold these things (huge tooling cost). Will your parts be cast with a pigmented rigid polyurethane resin in a silicone mold?

Sorry the threaded inserts is what I was referring to. If I can find ones then yes we will send some. But its a specialty nut and would need to be salvaged if we cant. They will be cast in already black resin in silicone molds. Injection mods would cost $10K and well, sorry I don't have that to spend.

I don't think the thread title, nor the forum chosen for this thread, are ideal for generating interest in these projects. I also think someone will have to step up for each of these projects and drive the process to make anything happen, rather than relying on a thread like this from phin. Just my $.02.

Personally I would still really like to see phin take on the spy hunter cockpit seat project, but as far as I can tell he still doesn't have a table big enough to do it. :(

Agreed. I'm not even sure why I saw this thread, based on the title. Need to post an interest thread for each proposed item, so people can add their names, etc..

Yeah this thread is easy to miss. I'm sure that there are at least 10 people from the old thread looking for a new replacement Outrun dash replacement.

Count me in for one if this gets done. It's the one piece that everyone has a cracked one of.

This thread and all of its associated potential products will never get off the ground w/o being actively driven.

How about starting a new thread specifically for the Out Run dash? Get committed folks and maybe do a prepay. I bet you'd get enough.
