Ok i need some new artwork for my TARG stand up. I cant seem to find anything on this game, nor does anyone want it LOL, so i figure if i cant get rid of it, i might as well make it the nicest one out there lol.

Overall my bezel, cpo etc.. is all in excellent shape and im in the progress of working on the monitor putting BR's deluxe repair kit parts in it. I plan to sand the cabinet down and give it all new paint and was just wondering if anyone HAS or knows where i can find some TARG side art. NOS would be amazing, but i would settle for Repros if anyone does it, or pay good for someone to make some repro side art.

The art on the side of my cab isnt too bad but there are pieces missing. And it would be nice to make it real sweet, even though the game isnt all that desirable i do have fond memories of buying it and getting it home to see that it didnt work at all lol. (yea i was a 17 year old dumb kid that bought an arcade without testing it from an old man that had it in a shed for 20 years lol. and paid 200 bucks of hard earned 17 year old minimum wage cash, at the time lol. So anyways 7 years later (and many many times trying to sell it) Im stuck with it and its gonna be a great convo piece id like to make nice.

Here's some pix of what the art looks like, i could get better pix if someone out there thinks they could make the art from the pictures some how?

If anyone can help me out please let me know. thanks everyone!

It's underrated.

Spectar is way fun too, but also worthless.

Don't worry about art- get some spray adhesive to anchor down where it's peeling up and get a magic eraser to pretty up the white side.

Keep it, but don't dump money on it. Invest in a Spectar board and you can play two games in the same cabinet. Hell- you could probably rig up an adapter for Venture and Pepper II while you're at it.

well its not really peeling its actually missing chunks of the art. i could tape off the art and paint around it but that wouldnt look real sweet.

Can anyone get me some art???

bump, no one can reproduce this side art?? i got cash in hand for some good lookin art

tough one. not a lot of demand for the art. Plus reproducing from pics is tough. If you could get scans of the art I'm sure someone like Rich of this old game would repro it for some cash.

thanks for the tip dan, i dont know how to scan it though really? Would i have to remove it completely and then take it through a scanner? or is there some kind of tool that can be put on it?

I actually think that side art looks pretty good, aside from a few pieces missing from the top. Personally, I would just clean it up VERY LIGHTLY with a magic eraser and not mess with it any more. At least for me, any attempts to touch up artwork always look worse than just leaving it as-is.

cool man thanks!

yea i might just try and fill in the top with some black vinyl and cut it the way it should be. It will be one of those stand 10 feet back and it looks new restorations i guess lol.

If you can find the art. I can print it for you for $25.00/side shipped. It would just be ink jet on polypropylene, but it looks good especially if you can get vector art.

vector art?? how would i go about getting the art in a file for you to print?? Take a lot of close up pics or something? i would be interested for sure!

I believe most of the vector art is created in Adobe Illustrator. I don't have the time or skills to create it, but I'm sure there is someone here who has the ability to do it. I checked vectorlib.free.fr and artwork.joymonkey.com and they didn't have it. It's probably going to be tough to get unless you create it yourself or spend some $ getting someone else to do it.

Unless this game is some kind of grail for you (and it doesn't sound like it is), you should just leave it alone. Anything you do to try to fix it is going to make it look worse, and getting artwork reproduced is going to just sink more money into a game that you don't even care about.

Maybe you can get lucky and find some NOS artwork (unlikely). But yeah, magic eraser and put it between a couple of other games. Although, to be honest, that's in better condition than the best side art I have on any of my cabs. :)

I would probably vote to just clean it ap and leave as is or do light fixes/touch up. As for scanning and vectorizing basically you can scan art that is still on a machine. You need a flat bed scanner where you can remove the lid. Basically you scan the art in sections creating many scans, then stitch these back together with a program like photoshop to create one image of the full side art. As for vectorizing as I understand it, you are basically using the scan to trace/redraw the art so it will have clean sharp lines and good detail. Scans usually don't provide this so they can tend to be a little fuzzy and imperfect unlike vector drawings where the detail can be printed nicely.

I would have to agree with these guys about leaving it as is. If you really don't like the game, get rid of it and buy one that you do like. You may not get what you have invested, but if you sink more money into it, then you'll have something you don't like that cost even more. Get rid of it and put the money toward one that you like. JMHO.

Like most Adobe programs Illustrator is obscenely expensive, I'm a total newbie to such things but I stumbled upon an open source vector program called Inkscape which seems pretty good, and most importantly totally free:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/inkscape/

No doubt it doesn't quite have all the bells and whistles Illustrator has, but I'm willing to bet it'll ultimately do the same job. Oh and FYI, a great free substitute for Photoshop is called Gimp, I use it all the time and it works awesome.

Hey guys thanks everyone for all the tips. i decided to leave it as is, and possibly get some black vinyl to fill in the missing pieces at the top of it. i took some magic eraser to it last night and man it cleaned up NICE looks almost brand new from a distance. Im gonna throw some new t molding on it and paint the coin door, also some other little things. I got a G07 Monitor kit and this is gonna be my first "true" arcade repair so im gonna keep it for that reason too.

After working on it i have actually become very fond of it. I used to hate it mainly because i had felt i got ripped off on it long ago, but its actually a cool story and reminds me of being in school and when i went and picked it up with one of my best friends and it was a cool road trip. So its like memories now and we still talk about the crazy old man who sold it to me lol.

Anyways i will be posting pics after i get it all nice again. The cabinet is so unique it actually looks pretty badass sitting in my game room all cleaned up now.

Thanks to everyone for all the help!

I still have my first game as well. Sounds like you are about to get hooked. Careful, this hobby can get out of hand real quick. :)

hehe well i collected NES games and console stuff for the last 5 or 6 years. I always had a liking for arcades and now im just learning how to work on them and its a fun hobby so far. I work at a body shop so cosmetic stuff is pretty easy, but still learning technical stuff.

This site has been a huge help and i just got randy fromms dvds so i hope im moving in the right directiong. im waiting for all my tools to come in from bob roberts right now and then ill be getting started on repairing this G07. it plays blind right now and has ever since ive owned it lol. Hopefully ill be able to bring it to life. :)

G07 is a good one to start with. It's easier than most and there is a lot of information available. Of course the first step is to check your connections then voltages. Many times I have found loose connectors. Easy fix and no investment.
