I've sprayed latex based paint over rattle can primer, which is labled as automotive primer.
I've sprayed oil based paint over rattle can primer.
It would be much easier to just mix up the catalyzed automotive primer, for spraying an entire cabinet. Another plus would be using a high build primer, so that you have enough on there to wet sand and get it slick and fill in tiny imperfections.
Any disadvantage to using the pro automotive primer for this?
