Haha. If these rumors are true, it should be interesting to see the internet lash back: Internet connection required and one time use activation codes for all games, eliminating the user market? I know neither of these are new ideas, but it'll be pretty ballsy if they go through with it.

Another great reason to tell M$ to
fuck-you-guys.jpg

Tell it to Sony too, they came out stating plans for this right from the start...mind you I read several sources MONTHS ago where Microsoft said they refuse to do this, as it would be suicidal. Things can change though, and if enough greedy devs push for it, they may have gotten their way.

Doesn't bother me, any system that does this, will only be purchased by me for the purpose of out and out pirating games...not a single game will I purchase, not ONE.
That'll be my own personal "Fuck You!" to the devs and MS...

M$ and Sony can both go F each other for all I care... probably my 2 least favorite companies on the planet!

just my $0.02 :D

What do I care anyways, I have all the games I want already, I never play my 360.

I actually play my android more, and I can install my games on any of my devices.

Nvidia shield will probably be my next game system.

I don't care much about activation codes, games have been doing that ever since MS-DOS days... (we still shared the floppy-disks, and codes).
One-time-use codes though? Meaning that I can't re-sell or trade my games? That will never fly with me, or anyone else that I know. It's why I personally hate Steam and will never support it.

And having Internet be a requirement? No. Just, no.
I refund and uninstall android games that require a connection, and I loathe the idea for many reasons. Not the least of which being that I don't always game where I have a dedicated connection, and this is a pointless ball-and-chain for no other purpose than DRM.

I'll stick with older consoles if it means avoiding this, and I won't shed a tear about it either.

Just another reason not to buy into the next generation. I think I'm done with new games anyway. It's all pretty much the same except for a few different titles.

Yea that's what they started doing with the Steam engine. single use activation codes. Only until you actually uninstalled the game, could you ever install it on anything again. I think that's how it worked.
I remember having to write them over a period of a week just to install a game that it was denying me from doing.

Game companies have already started this. If you buy the new assassins creed 3 game there's a code you need to type in to play online. If you trade that game in and someone else wants to play online they need to buy a 5 dollar code from Ubisoft on the PS3 or xbox live to play. They're just trying to dig more out of our pockets and this is turning into the new way to make cash. Also Dead Space 3 makers cut a lot out of the actual game and they are making it as DLC. They launch some on the day it came out and plan to have more within the next month. So now your 60 dollar game is 80 to 100 dollars instead.

This has been true for some time now. What they are saying about the new generation is that even the stand along single player game itself will be one time use/install, so to speak. So they'll be carrying over what companies are doing for some multiplayer games now to the single player game as well.

Every medium that has switched to digital has lost significant value in the transition. I don't know if they can realistically charge $60+ if this is their plan.

Exactly, I have a hard time spending more than $5 for an android app.

What I hate is points thing, just do $ like Google play.

I agree. We'll just see more of the same 1st-person shooters taking advantage of charging people for DLC.

I wonder what Gamestop thinks of these actvation codes eliminating some of their future used game sales. Maybe they'll have to start selling NES games to compensate.

This is actually what they are going to do... It has been discussed before that they are stocking up on nes/snes/dc/etc..

If they were smart they would start making their own exclusive games. They should have purchased some of the Atari properties while they were for sale.

all im saying is besides all the money bullshit, how much better can it get??? eventually technology for a video game is gonna hit a wall. unless it hits virtual reality..

They'll be carrying Nintendo's used games...Nintendo has already stated they will never slap their customers in the face in this manner.
