HELLO!!!
So I wanted to share with you guys. I just put the finishing wiring touches on my Ms. Pac-man cocktail. I'm terribly excited and wanted to share.
I picked up this cocktail in October for $75 bucks.
Aside from some moisture issues, she looked ok! She wouldn't start, but I figured this would be a good first machine to possibly electrocute my self with/repair.
I got it home and replaced the fuses and it fired up, but the screen was really scrambled. I checked the board and checked all the connections... everything looked fine. I shipped the board off to be tested (before I knew anyone locally who could do it) and the person said it was just fine. Hmmm...
So I cracked her open and pretended I knew how to use a multimeter. With some help from you fine folks on the forums, I came to the conclusion that the main ISO wasn't putting out the proper power.
It was around that time, I met C.J. (Oregonarcade) and he gave me a Galaga power block to use for parts. What a guy!
After replacing that ISO, she fired up... after some sync adjustments... There she was! But she was drunk. Nasty hum bar problem. LOUD buzz from the speaker, and the monitor needs a good degaussing. I ordered the repair kit from Bob Roberts and just got done rewiring the harness and fuse blocks tonight.
She's running fine! I waved my Ryobi power drill around it a few times and POW! Discoloration is gone!
She's not perfect... she could use new glass, a new bezel and some fine detail work... but it looks really good!
Happy Happy!
