Oh I'm a Sucker... Resident Evil 4 HD, Resident Evil Code Veronica X HD

I'm a sucker.
So I bought both versions of Resident Evil on Xbox live. Anyone else get these?
Here are my thoughts...
While I once viewed Resident Evil 4 as one of the best made games of all time, it now shows its age. The graphics are one thing, but I am talking more about the really bad dialogue between characters. The theme just seems old as well.

I like the achievements. They are mostly easy and worth big points. Except for the bottlecap achievement. Damn that is tough!

But I feel like a sucker.. I still own both of these games for PS2. Why did I buy it again??!!!

It stopped being Resident Evil when they took the Zombies out of the game. Dont get me wrong, RE4 was a damn good game, but I hated the storyline.

No Zombies or Umbrella = Lame.

I see what you are saying. But I still think it was the best of the series. Not because of storyline.... that sucked. But more because of the gameplay and how long it was. That is an 11 hour game! I liked buying and upgrading weapons too!

I think the worst of the series was 3. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was HORRIBLE!

I liked RE4, right up until the first "encounter" when the zombie talked and I realized he wasn't really an undead moaning growling zombie. Killed the whole experience for me.

I still have it for Wii and I won't buy it again for that reason.

I've never played Code Veronica... for me the series stopped at RE Remake, and that is the gold standard I hold all other Resident Evil's to.

Might spring for Code Veronica, though I've had it on several systems already and never seemed to get into it.. really wish they'd do an HD version of the first two, or port those Gamecube exclusives. 4 & 5 were such a departure from what I enjoyed I really have no interest in ever playing them again, they need to go back to exploring creepy buildings while zombies lurk about.

So interesting to hear people not like 4 and 5. I actually found them to be really good. I almost thought that after 3, they had to reinvent themselves. Killing zombies was starting to get old. This was something a bit more fresh. For me, 4 was the best.

Code Veronica has more of the Zombie theme. It was fun. That huge spider under the ice was pretty sweet!

I don't know where this hate for 4 is coming from, it's an infinitely better game than the previous versions, and I love the previous versions! :p

A zombie shooter without actual zombies.... That's like um..... something, without something else. :D

On a more serious note... really the whole "chill factor" of the game was being confined with limited ammo trying to survive against undead monsters. With 4 and 5, they are not really undead monsters anymore... just crazy angry townspeople.

4 & 5 started to remind me too much of Tomb Raider, especially 5 with the running around in caves pushing stones to open doors and shit. Technically they do use better engines and the controls are better, but the fun factor just isn't there and I never played Resident Evil for the 'action'. 4 & 5 feel more like generic adventure games than survival horror imo, I can't imagine anybody playing 4 or 5 and being scared.

If the game had to morph I'd rather it had changed into more of an Eternal Darkness type of game, mixing in psychological elements with the horror.

I'm not saying I hated RE4, I'm just saying it wasn't a RE game. Except for the characters, it had nothing to do with the RE storyline. Just like the gawd awful movies. They should have named it something other than RE4.

Like someone already said, the RE games were about limited ammo and close-quarters areas. There wasn't one point in RE4 that had any type of scare factor.

RE3 wasn't that bad. Go play RE:Survivor and I promise, you wont think RE3 is really that bad after playing that pile.

The only scare in 4 is the Rejuvinators!!! Those guys suck. They are tough to kill, make a creepy breathing sound and have a cool design. The game is just so much easier to play than the others. The character movements are so much better.
I will second that RE Survivor was horrible. But 3 was pretty bad too.

I actually kinda liked 3, from what I remember it seemed like a dumbed down update to 1 & 2, with more machine guns and ammo and some cool environments. I don't think I ever played it all the way through where as I did so several times on the first two, but it was the last one I really had any fun with
