If you remember, I cut my Data East Simpsons loose and replaced it with Doctor Who. Well, the Doctah just wasn't working out, so I returned it, threw in a bit more cash, and brought home The Getaway!

It's fully working, has been shopped (cleaned/waxed, new rubbers, new balls), and has a new DMD.

It's missing the on/off switch, and far more seriously, the cabinet's front-left corner is separating (I didn't even notice it till I got it home and started putting the legs on), but it's otherwise a damn nice machine.

Oh yeah, and oh-so-fun! :D

I think the Getaway is a great machine. Wish I had never sold mine ( Heck, it never made it to the basement. Some day....some day!

Enjoy it!

Any protips on the best way to fix this?

I'd go the wood glue/epoxy route and clamp it.
If you don't have large spreader clamps, you'll need to fashion something to pull from the far end and the front with whatever kind of clamps you have.
Clamp across the front as well from side to side.

Gotcha; thanks!

Will standard wood glue suffice, or is there some kind of super-adhesive I should be using?

Standard wood glue should work fine, as long as it's clamped well and left to dry and cure long enough.
I would not take the clamps off for at least 24 hours to allow it to fully cure.

Congrats on the pick-up, a good one to be sure. I have found in my limited pinball playing experience that there is just something about Steve's games that are fun and exciting. I have a rather long list of games that I want and 75% of them are Steve Ritchie games. Enjoy!

I had this prob on a Guns n Roses ....I used Gorilla Glue and a ratchet strap....strapped it as tight as I could, left it for a few days. Worked perfectly! When I sold the game, it survived the trip in my car and up some stairs and stayed together just fine.

Ratchet strap...nice, that's a better idea than spreader clamps.

Wood glue + ratchet strap = WIN!

My issue with the corner coming apart is no longer an issue.

Thanks a bunch, guys!

Good addition!

I had a Getaway and enjoyed it a lot. For whatever reason, I did let it go. I cannot recall exactly why.

Funny you dropped the Simpsons... if I were to get rid of another, it might be Simpsons also. Or even STTNG.

Enjoy it! The music really adds to the gameplay. Supercharger is cool.

Over the last six months or so, I bet I had only played a dozen games on my Simpsons. Figured it was time to cut it loose for something with more staying power. So far, The Getaway's looking like a great candidate for that position.

The game is just super-fun. Hell, even the wife likes it, and my little girl has been playing the hound out of it. (She even told me while playing it this afternoon that she was "starting to like pinball a lot more".)
