Picked this Baby Pac up this weekend and it cleaned up real nice. Pretty addicting game, really. I vaguely remember it as a kid. It was completely dead when I got it and had a sticker that said CRT/chassis mismatch and I couldn't tell because I hadn't seen a 13" monitor yet. Well, turns out that the sticker is wrong and the monitor is fine. Which is weird.
Found a loose speaker wire and faulty interlock switch. Replaced both and then I had sound and the lights and pinball portion came to life but still no video.
Re-soldered all the pins on the vidiot. The MPU turned out to be an ultimate, looks brand new. Pushed all the wires into the connectors. Now, everything works. From what i can tell, all the lights and solenoids work.
I had to drill out the control panel lock to gain access to the playfield. I'll have to replace that. I cleaned up the playfield and glass. Used magic eraser for the sides and control panel and it looks pretty damn good.
The game will still sometimes not immediately come up when I turn it on. I have to wiggle the wires and connectors. Those will need replacing and the playfield needs some cleaning up with the decals but not too much. The cp needs a little work as well. Nothing too bad.
Now, I need to get a real pin but its a pretty cool hybrid with some different strategy options.
Here's a before and some after pics. Hope you like.
