I had a guy coming from New Jersey to pickup a machine last night and my phone rang from a message I had left to a craigslist add for a RFM. I thought for sure it was gone anyway at $1200, either that or a scam. Guy was animated...lol but seemed like a nice guy. Said his phone had been blowing up all day, people offering him $1,000.....Really? I couldn't really understand trying to lowball the price so I told him ''hey, if you want cash now, I'll send it'' Any minute that game would be gone so I didn't want to fool around.

So I sent my wife to make the payment. Thanks to her for going over there and testing the machine (only a few towns over) said the left flipper may be weak but everything else looked good. Guy said he's owned it for 5 years.

Have not played a RFM long enough to know if it's a good pin or not. I have played a few balls on a well routed junker with super weak flippers, so I'm eager to see how it plays out.
Not so eager to move the beast though :/

Thanks, James

I bought mine for $1100 non-working. It was on consignment at the local distributor for 6-8 months at $1800 and then one day it wouldn't turn on. Got it down to $1100 (built in room to have to buy NuCore). Got it home, slapped a new pc power supply in it, and presto! Good to go!

RFM is one of the best pinball machines ever created... quite possibly the best. It gets a lot of hate from the old-timer RGP crowd who are often resistant to change and seem to hate video games.

RFM has incredible flow. Great artwork. Great animation. Great sound (first (and only?) pinball system to use stereo sound). IMO, the humor is far superior than popular favorites like MB and MM. Just today I was playing the game in the "battle robo-Lincoln" mode and I heard a sound clip I'd never heard before: "Other than that? How was the play?" I'd had the game a year and it continues to surprise and amuse me. It has something like 11 different multi-ball modes, all of which are quite different and interesting. You are going to LOVE RFM. Personally, that's the game should should be going for $8k instead of MM.

Great price for a RFM.

The game gets the hate due to the fact that it's not your standard type of pinball machine. I personally do not hate it myself. I own one but I also have a AFM along with most of the other Bally/Williams A-title games.

I would not call it the best game but it is the best game out of the Pinball 2000 series.

I prefer to play AFM more than RFM.

I got the game home in three pieces, all moved by myself. Hooked everything up, tweaked a bunch of switches, bulbs, etc. I was really surprised how great the game not only is to play, but the smoothness of it is unlike any game I've played. A real eye opener because I had only played horrible route machines with junk flippers that could not make a ramp.

I tend to play a lot more but just got home with it's big brother AFM, which is outside at the moment. Owe my back, :)

Thanks, James

Great score! I like RFM alot, and play mine quite a bit. It cost me far more than $1200. I think you did well.

I agree that is is smooth. The humor is great as well.

Enjoy!

i HATED it when i first played it...thought it was a steaming pile of poo. the more i've played it though, the more i like it. i have the opportunity to buy one soon, but it'll probably be a little bit more than the $1200 you snagged yours for.

as for that robo-lincoln mode, i love the mortal kombat ending line: "the 16th president, wins." :)

I paid $2200 for my RFM and I thought it was a bargain. I still think it's the most underrated pinball of them all.

On the IPDB list, at the time of this writing, it's ranked #124. That's just ridiculous. Machines like, Diamond Lady, Space Jam, Hooked, Al's Garage Band Goes On A World Tour, and Maverick are ranked higher? Are you kidding me? It's almost like there's a conspiracy to keep this title from getting the recognition it deserves. I mean, seriously, 124th? Does anybody think that is where RFM should be?

Another thing you will find is that the sheer engineering of this platform is astounding.

Have you played Episode 1? For another $900 or so you can have another machine that is almost plug and play in the RFM cabinet, minus 12 minutes for a software re-flash.

Many hate Episode 1, but I think it is fun as well.

I would not call it the best game but it is the best game out of the Pinball 2000 series.

Considering there were only 2 production games in the Pinball 2000 series, does that make Star Wars Episode 1 second best or worst of the Pinball 2000 series?

Wizard Blocks (3rd PB2000) - I played the proto and it seems that it would have been a better game than SWEP1. The software was not complete but the theme looks like it would have been fun.

True, but I did say PRODUCTION games.

no...it's a top-100 title, IMO. pinside.com has it #22...that may be a little high, but it's way closer to a real rating than #124.

oh, and leave maverick out of this...dammit. ;)
