Someone walked into the store today with this stuff.

An original Odyssey with a cool case that i had never seen before. It's complete sans the switchbox. A bunch of games in the case as well as a bunch of boxes, complete games, some of them with all the stuff inside still sealed in the original cardboard cases inside the boxes.

an Odyssey^2 in the original cardboard shipping case over the box. It's not new in the box, it's obviously been taken out and used, but it's in damn near perfect shape. The controllers have a little corrosion on them but I have som NOS controllers I got at a flea market years ago.

Nice stuff :)

I offered $70 and he was floored. He didn't expect more than $20. He is selling his house and moving south and found it in the attic. Almost put it out with the trash and a friend said we might buy it.

All in all a good transaction and everyone was happy.

The original Odyssey works great! Chip 1 is the absolute worst version of pong I've ever played and I've played a lot of versions. I can't figure out what power supply the O^2 needs.. It's an odd one, not the same PS as my other machine.

Early model O2 consoles can use the Atari 2600 PS. Later model (most common) can use the NES PS.

Ah I didn't know that. i have three or four of the later original PS's around at home but none of the early model. It's the one with the controllers you can actually unplug without taking the thing apart. That's the early one, right? It also uses the odd switch box that's the same as the original Odyssey. Dumb, funky, non-standard plug. And for some reason I have three of those switch boxes at home too.

Yeah, the early model O2 has the joystick ports on the outside (later models have molex connectors inside the unit) and the goofy RF connector, and work with the 2600 PS. Later model O2s have the standard RF and can use the NES PS.

If you have an early model O2, you can open it up and replace the goofy RF cable with a standard one and it should work fine.

9v AC with a barrel connector.

If you have a 9v DC supply you can use it too if you set the polarity right so the voltage goes through the bridge rectifier.
