Anyone else see that Bally's Odd & Even on Pawn Stars?

So fun, first some clown comes on and states it would cost $2,500 or more to restore. OK, it was actually in very good condition.

Then the seller wants $3,000 for it, hehehe, so funny.
They offer $800 then settle for $1000.

Just for reference it's $600 in Mr Pinball Guide.
Why don't they spend $28 and get a guide??????

Steve

Ended up charging $3000 for the restoration and told them that they could sell it for around $5000.00!!!

Pretty insane!

pawn

in reno you could not get 500 for a mint cond restored one
and wholesale for anyone in the biz on that game is 100 or less
i bet they got 100 offers to buy pins after that episode as many from that era have a hard time getting 300 retail

Pawn Stars = BS "reality" TV show... key word being either "BS" or "TV" as they're one and the same.

Funny thing about Vegas is that they CAN get that stupid money for a game like that. Go to the Forum Shops in Ceasars and you will routinely see nasty blown out pins selling for 5K+. They sell like crazy, I know the guys who supply the games, and its amazing to see what people will pay for "an antique".

Yeah i know the exact store you talking about...the have some shitty ass pieces that do sell for a lot of money...of course in Vegas you have people with the green to splurge so I guess its all good out there....:D

The point of mis-pricing stuff is so:

1) People watching the show hope an episode will come along and learn that their old VHS copy of Gilligan's Island is worth some obscene amount.

2) Outrage "people in the know" so that they will jump online and say "have you seen this show called "pawn stars???!!!" And that gets other people "in the know" saying "I have to see this to see how idiotic these people are!!"

They basically took Antiques Roadshow from PBS and added reality TV elements. Some tune in to be entertained and others to be flabbergasted.

I hate that show as much as I hate Antique Roadshow. And not to mention the travesty that IPDB causes. Not sure which of the 3 is worse.

Who is the guy that always tells them it will be thousands to restore...if it is real he is raping them for sure..

It's all an act. It was discussed extensively on RGP. The show gets supposed "authorities" to inflate numbers. All the buyers and sellers are in on it. They cover up the horrific acting with machine-gun filming and editing.

No offense to you, roadrunner, but your post is exactly what I hate most about reality tv. People see something "unbelievable" on these stupid shows and then try to conceive of a way it could be true. "Well, I guess to a diehard KISS fan..."

There have been several threads on here as well that discuss this show and that it's fake.

I recall a member here tried to go and visit the shop, but the first few days he was there, the shop was closed for filming.

Then the one dude, who was totally pissed on the street after he found out his item was a reproduction on the show, was spotted on a few TV commercials.

Another member here received a phone call from the show asking if they had any pinball/arcade gaming equipment that they'd like to bring out to the show.

I worked at a pawn shop for 4 years, and sadly never saw anything really cool come in.

I know it comes down to location, but still, after watching that show a couple times, I don't believe half of what I see come in there.

I always figured the articles had to be "selected" in for viewer enjoyment.
