Odd's and Evens pinball by Bally, seen it on the show Pawn Stars

They had this pinball on Pawn Stars (the show on the history channel) a guy came in to sale his pinball to the pawn shop, it was in pieces. The playfields was perfect, anyway the guys at the shop said the pin needs parts and it woould run about 2500-$3000 for parts so they asked how much total and the guy said $3k to restore. So the guy restore the pin but the flippers were not aligned properly and a few lights were out on the pop-bumpers but when he played the pop-bumper lights went off and on, is this a loose connection? Anys the guy said they would be able to sale the restored Odd's and Even's for over 5k. Is this guy insane? Anybody see this show? How about the show "Pickers"?

I saw that episide last night too. I don't know a ton about pins, but even my 10 year old son thought that restoration estimate sounded outrageous. I'm gonna guess that thing is going to be sitting in their shop for a long time at a selling price of $5k.

Love that show "American Pickers". Kind of reminds me of what it feels like to get in on a warehouse raid. Did you see the episode where they took a pass on two old EM pins some guy had under a tarp in one of his many outbuildings, including one with about 25-30 old horse drawn carriages? Does a bad flipper selenoid really cost a $100 to replace?

Did you see the episode where the were in some guys barn and there were 3 EM pins and "Frank" said that pins without movie titles are worth less?

There's a thread on this in the general arcade section.http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=121012
As for the pop bumpers I believe they switch back and forth by a change relay as they are worth more points when lit.

I watched that episode too. I thought the guy who did the restoration seemed a little... uhhh... shady. I mean, 3K to restore (the playfield did look, dare I say it, MINTY fresh) but I can't believe that pin would command 4K or more.

One more point. Guy charges that much for a restoration of a machine that was pretty decent to begin with and they go to his house to pick it up? I mean... is it a business? With prices like that I would expect a storefront.

Anyway.. I wish they had featured it a little bit more. I have seen a cocktail table in the background in some episodes but couldn't see it well enough to know what it was.

Hey... a suggestion.... anyone in, or visiting, Vegas should stop by there and see if it's there. Take a picture and post it. I was gonna meet some friends there next week, and would have done that, but work got in the way.

There was an episode where Big Haas and Chumlee went and checked on a KISS pinball and got it for $1500, but haven't seen it in the shop there, either they sold it or have it at there home. So far 2 pins on "Pawn Stars".

I thought that I heard that the pin sold, but I'm guessing that they didn't get their full asking price on that one.

It's a Pac-Man cocktail they bought in an earlier episode, they spent 150 to buy it then another 350 to fix it up as it wouldn't start and the overlay was in bad shape. Though the guy that fixed it said that the problem was that someone tried to turn it into a Ms. Pacman but did it wrong. The person who restored said they could get 1200 for it which is quite rediculous

I'm not disagreeing for just the sake of it, but I understood it differently. I never remember hearing the 5k offering price, but I thought 3k was the price he could get after it was restored. He pointed out several flaws, none of which would have cost over 2k to fix.

I saw that episode...I thought he said around $1000.

It looked pretty damn good after he got done with it.

How cheap can you get a cocktail with new glass, overlay, cpos, joysticks, buttons?

I just rewatched it. The restoration cost $3000, the shop had about $4k invested i n it. The restorer also then said they could probaby get about $5k for it.

OK, before my eyeballs stab themselves and my brain chokes itself after reading this thread: "sale" is not a verb. Try "sell." And WTF is a "pop bumber"????? Argh.

Yeah... that may be the case. When they started throwing numbers around in the 2 and 3 thousands, for an early 70's EM that I wasn't thinking was all that 'rare', my mind might have gone 'fuzzy'...

;-)

It's season 2, episode 18 (Pawn.Stars.S02E18) titled "Pinball Wizards" if you are interested. It's going to re-air on History Channel on Friday (Feb 12) at 10PM ET.

The episode with the KISS pin is season 1, episode 14. I missed that one so I'll have to find it online.

Lastly, the "Pac-Man video game" episode is season 1, episode 4 (missed that one too)

Off to find them.
