Been obsessed with perfect working chutes and coin mechs lately.. even tho only one of my machines really uses coin mechs i have cleaned up the ones on my mame and my other pandoras box multi cart and now want everything to be coin operated...

I even have one of those bastard coin control mechs and it works a treat. The mechanical click and fall noises it makes rings a memory every time of childhood excitement about to ENGAGE!!

The newer happ controls plastic ones work smoothly but the sounds are a bit flat.

Help...

Due to coin mechs being finicky due to age, I'm seriously considering getting the "any coin" mechs, which aren't mechs at all.... they just channel any coin inserted down to the coin trigger.

Yeah, you lose "the sound", but I won't have any issues due to the size differential between tokens and quarters.

I like the feel and sound of tokens too, I rigged up my own any coin mech. I measured, cut and scored the fold lines on some thin cardboard and made a rectangle chute to go in place of the mech. Works for me

When I get nostalgic for mech noises, I go to Chuck E Cheese and play a few games. Everytime I have a coin stick in a mech somewhere. I like my freeplay cabs too much and coins are a pita. I'm lazy these days.

Like I've mentioned in another thread, I don't put my games in free-play. I put as much money in them as I can - the coin up sound just can't be baat. Plus, that money funds the collection..!

Chuck E Cheese just did away with the tokens and went to cards :(

Whoa... wait where are all these tokens gonna go???

I just broke a $20 and that net me enough tokens for a bit of fun.. going to put delay timer boards on my "credit buttons" on my pandora and mame, since i use a button combo (start+coin) to exit back to the main menu on both cabs. Then ill jumper the same credit circuit to my coin trigger, bypassing the delay button and run with that and see how that goes...

The pandora is a pretty viable coin play option if the credit button is just hidden below the control panel in a commercial setting.... just set it up every morning and coin up with the mech
