The K4951 in my Jamma Taito cab has a pretty nice picture, bright colors and all for the most part. I have been running a 19-1 on it with no probs whatsoever until last night.
I scored a Tekken 2 board off a fellow KLOVer and isntalled it last night so my daughters could play it for a while, and me too.. It went fine, the colors were bright, no worries.
But later, I put the 19-1 back in the machine and blue had disappeared!?! By that I mean the characters that were supposed to have blue on them, i.e. the suit Dad wears and the Brains in Robotron, Bubbles, etc. did not have any. I was able to crank up the blue cutoff and turn everything blue, but could not get a defining blue at all. When adjusted so everything else looked right, the Dad's suit in Robotron simply blended in with the background. (wave 10 was a real treat... lol).
So I put Tekken 2 back in and it seemed fine, I then put in Thunder Jaws, and it looked superb with a TON of blue just like it should be. So I get a computer monitor and hook that up to the 19-1; perfect picture. Put the the dip switch back to CGA and again, no blue. So i went to bed thinking that i need to get either a 20" LCD, or another 19-1..
But first thing this morning I turned it on and the picture is perfect......... !
So was the tube too warm or something last night? It had been on most of the day.
Is this something a cap kit could fix? When working properly, the picture really is quite nice, but...
