I'm looking forward to the show again. I missed last year but came the 1st year and had a blast. I'm also excited to be able to donate some games. I just sent in the form and am waiting to hear back. I have a Tapper, Cheyenne, Crackshot, Time Soldiers and a 48 in 1. I offered to volunteer on Thursday and I will probably be at the show Friday night and Saturday. I'm hoping to be able to help Sunday night too but I have to work somethings out (i.e. the wife.)
I basically decided after the 1st show to get one game and that turned into 5. I don't have much experience fixing up games but I managed to get the sound working on my 48 in 1. I think the Crackshot needs a cap kit (the color is off and it takes forever to get bright) and I also have an exidy multi that I want to put in the Cheyenne, I looked up the instructions online and was a little overwhelmed. I was wondering if anyone could help me get started or give me some hands on training so I can learn a thing or two and get these games 100% for the show.
Have you joined Seattle Metro Arcade Collectors (SMAC) yet?
http://www.seattlearcade.org
It's a private Google group that currently has 121 members. Membership generally is limited to those who live in the greater Seattle area, but we do have members as far north as Mount Vernon and as far south as Tumwater and Chehalis. We have a few members out east (Tri-Cities and Spokane), and we even have some Portland-area collectors in the group as well. (The Portland guys also have their own group, Portland Arcade Collectors a.k.a. PAC.)
SMAC is heavily involved with helping to put on the NW Pinball and GameRoom Show. (In fact, we basically
are the video half of the show.) We even have a bunch of "repair parties" at various members' homes starting around early March and running every other weekend through mid-May. The purpose, both of the repair parties and of the SMAC group in general, is to help each other with troubleshooting and repairs while sharing knowledge and tools, and for networking within our hobby to buy/sell/trade and track down games and/or parts for each other.
As fate would have it, I'm hosting the next repair party this Saturday at my home in West Seattle. You're welcome to come if you like. Use that link above to submit a request to join SMAC. In the meantime I've PM'd you with the details about this Saturday's repair party.
Based on your description of your
Crackshot's monitor, it sounds more like the tube is getting tired. Certainly do a cap kit on it, but it may need rejuvenation or even a new tube. Do you know what model of monitor it has? A couple of SMAC members that will be at the repair party this Saturday have rejuvenators and practically every adapter that is needed to connect to all of the most common monitors used on these old games. If you're able to transport your cabs bring
Crackshot and
Cheyenne to the repair party and odds are high you'll get the help you need. We have some talented arcade techs in our little group. And we've never had any Exidy shooters at the show before, which is a crime that is due to be corrected.
