I have secured some non-toxic Aqua-Resin, used by Hollywood Film makers to make props and still comply to the strict California laws. Expensive crap.

Anyway, I want to create replica cabs of Nutting Computer Space, the world's first arcade video game. I think it needs to be done, so many other replicas, why not the first?

Of course, I would have to secure an original cab to make the mold.

They made 1500 of them, so who knows I might just find one! Wish me luck.

Well, I'd love to see what you'd come up with. They were awesome-looking cabinets.

But honestly, a lot of the real ones sit around and collect dust, from what I hear and have seen. They get more glances than coins...

They'd make a great MAME cab, but only if you put a gigantic control panel on it :D :vroam:

If you end up using an original cab as a plug make sure you use plenty of PVA so there is no damage to it while pulling the mold. The trick is going to be trying to find someone willing to donate their cab for this.

Maybe I can find an empty cab somewhere, but this project could take years.
I hear ya about the PVA, its what the race car guys use.

it would never be the same though. the originals were built by the giants that basically started the video part of the industry. their blood sweat and tears went into them. their energy. and know how.

good point

that very reason might be why maybe an inexact replica might be more appropriate, again I say,

Gozer, need yer help!!!!

I don't think it'd be wrong to MAME a replica...

...right?

I have access to measure one about 60 miles from me, but a Sketchup model of it would be far from perfect. There is just no way to replicate the exactness of the curves without the original casts.

Doesn't an original CS typically go for around $1500 +/- a few hundo? How much would the materials, molds, etc. for this cost?

Not sure what the value would be in a reproduction of this. I can't see there being much demand for these to be made in quantity.

Nonetheless good luck with the project.

If you can give me some decent measurements I can replicate it in my secret laboratory.
And a bunch of photographs!!
Thanks Gozer!!!!
