NSM City II blown fuse, carriage stuck to left. Please point me in a direction.

Hello,

I am brand new to this website and have a NSM City II that I've had for about 15 years. It's been a great machine and has worked flawlessly, except for the dry rubber drive wheel...

Two nights ago, I plugged it in and it came to life like normal. All of a sudden, before I selected a record, the carriage moved all the way to the left and got stuck there as the motor continued to turn and started clicking as the gear was slipping.

First off, I don't have a manual or schematic. I tried to order one from a "website" a few years ago for $49.00 and got ripped off. It never came and the seller never responded to me. That left a bad taste in my mouth.

At any rate, I opened up the main power supply board cover and removed both audio channel boards and the board with the "scan" button on it. I plugged it back in and noted that the motor in the carriage was still running and forcing it to the left.

At that point, I noticed that the fuse directly above the "Scan" button board was blown. I powered down the juke and replaced that fuse. I powered it back up and that fuse immediately blew again.

I unplugged ALL connectors going to this board, except for the power feed coming in.

I replaced the fuse and again the fuse immediately blew.

This leads me to believe that the problem is in this board someplace. As a added note, there are no 56V LEDs illuminated on the right hand side of the board. All LEDS on the left side are lit.

I don't see any obvious blown caps, burned resistors, or anything else.

Does anyone have any idea where I can start to look? Also, does anyone have a reputable source for a Manual/schematic?

Thank you so much, have a blessed day.

MK

First, NSM was (and still is today) primarily a European manufacturer and their marketing/distribution is aimed at Europe. They do have a USA office here:

http://www.nsmmusic.com/

However, they may not be able to help since you have a 45 rpm vinyl jukebox. I don't think they support anything made over 20 years ago. I could be wrong, though. I would suggest joining this jukebox forum, which is based in the UK:

http://jukeboxjive.freeforums.org/

They have plenty of people who could help with NSM equipment.

Jeff Wager sells quality reproduction jukebox and pinball manuals:

You could also check on ebay for NSM manuals.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate it.

Anyone run into a similar issue with a NSM jukebox like the one I am having?

Thanks,

My NSM 250-I is having a similar problem. It is blowing a fuse. There was a bad resistor that I had earlier that blew to the point of being unrecognizable. Luckily with I was able to decipher what I needed by looking at the resistor under a micro scope for the colored bands.

Anyways. I have no idea what is causing this fuse to blow. Hopefully Ken's links will provide more help.
