I have an NSM City II in what seems like great shape.
The carriage moves fine and selects 45s and goes to play them, but thats where the problems start.
The issue is that the 45 seems to spin at much slower then intended, It sounds like something that would make a good backdrop for a haunted house.
I do not have the manuals for the machine, but was hoping it to be a quick fix (especially since it seems that most of the parts that normally break on this machine are fine on mine (glass, carriage, ect)

The turntable motor on a city II requires NO OIL !!!!! The rubber ring that goes around the turntable is dry and causing the motor shaft to slip causing slow speed ! It may have to be replaced ! You might be able to use a rubber roller drive cleaner to soften it.Ive used ...rubber renue...by MG chemicals with some success . Even cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and a rag sometimes helps. Also the motor is on a swing arm that raises up to the turntable upon completion of loading a record into place ....and the shaft that it is on may need lubricating. Sometimes I've had to take that shaft completely off ,clean it a little oil on it !Im by know means a NSM expert ! But I have had a little experience with these ! Chances are I will never attempt to work on these ever again,I had enough headaches from these when we used to route run these years ago ! The joke around the shop on these were ....... NSM stands for ......No Sound or music !!! LOL Good luck with this problem it's probably not a hard one ! Ryan

Thanks for the input, everything looks clean on it but the rubber bits drying out makes sense.
I was thinking the motor was failing or there was a pot that needed to be tweaked.
I can't wait to get some free time and start messing with it again.

I just worked on a City ES a couple of weeks ago that the bearings in the turntable motor had seized up! The motor would not physically spin at all. Took about two hours of disassembling and oiling to get the motor working again.
