I worked this summer at a local game store that specializes in old game hardware. Aside from doing some software development there, I worked on a lot of game consoles' hardware. Part of the job was getting this guy tuned up:
Based on a number of clues, I've determined the history of this cabinet:
Missile Command -> Shinobi -> Street Fighter 2' Hyper Fighting
A slightly amount of Missile Command burn-in can be seen on the G07, as well as the Shinobi logo in the center. The screen bezel is also from Shinobi, it would seem, with the swords and shiruken.
A re-cap and some tuning and it's a working SF2... a switcher lies inside, no traces of the MC harness or board, and a speaker was screwed in to a wood support that holds the coin box in place with a single screw... not a top-tier conversion. I'll have to figure out a better audio solution.
Fun fact: That marquee is signed by various known Street Fighter players from when it was a SF2 Rainbow cabinet during a tournament.
Fun Fact II' HF: This is the PCB from this: http://mikejmoffitt.com/wp/?p=77
Was this conversion offered as a kit, or did someone shoe-horn this in? The control panel is just another HF marquee with holes and decals.
