Now this HAS to be an Eprom problem

Well hold that thought Riptor. It's true I would now like to have a stock of 27C512's to have on hand. I'm thinking the main PCB roms are ok, it's just a swapped sound board Eprom that needs some TLC. Hoping the Prom just under it isn't consequential.
If I had a blank Eprom I could see how a reprogramming would do on the sound board. I've played the game but I can't get past the obnoxious sounds atm. Who knows how long it'll take the postal 'service' to get the eprom eraser to me.
But if I ran the Romident program correctly I have that user that suggested it, to thank for putting me on the right path.
I wrote down what the correct Rom locations were with Blasteroids, and you could easily sample the game by running Mame on your pc to compare with what you 'should' be getting. Then rewatch the youtube video. Everything seems right on the main PCB.

PM me and let me know how many 27C512 you need and I will make you a deal on them.
I did check out your clip but having never played blasteroids I had no idea what it should sound like. I could burn the roms for you too if you like.

My thanks to Channelmaniac and hindered for the Romident suggestions. I haven't been able to repair this problem yet as I'm waiting on a UV light, but atm I am thinking that this is exactly the problem.
I am thinking Modessit and I are on the same wavelength on conclusions as well.
As for building my own eprom eraser - dude - I have 33 projects and 15 are working. I have enouph projects already but thanks for the suggestion. :D

FYI for others out there, PETCO sells the UV bulbs and I think they also have the whole lights. They are used on outdoor ponds and waterfalls etc in decorative gardens. Not sure what that has to do with petco but I do remember buying a bulb for mine there. In fact thats the only place local I could find a bulb. I seem to recall them saying it is used on reptiles to kill bacteria or something to that extent.

Another Blasteroids sound issue

1) Zinfer - did you get your Sarge, there is one here in Norfolk

2) The real reason for this post. I bought a Blasteroids and after getting the monitor working, I realized the sound was messed up. I cleaned up the board and connectors, but no change. Here are screenshots from the test screens. It seems I am not getting the right sound effects, there is no music in attract mode, etc...
this is what is on the 2K chip on the audio board reads

1986 Atari
8370
136054
1116

I'm gettin communications error #1 and the error count just increases. The game seems to play fine.

Any ideas? Thanks!

No, sadly I've not been able to find one nearby. I've seen quite a few way out west. I did see one in Norfolk - practically on the Eastern seaboard. Would love to have it but just can't get it from there to here. I'm not far from Brett and I guess someone does drive up occasionally to pickup or drop off cabinets with him. If I could get a connection there I would just be ecstatic.
I would definitely pull all Eproms and check each one of them for checksums. My problem was strictly audio. And it was because someone before me had the wrong Eproms in there entirely.
They had vindicators sound Eproms in there.

I might be able to help here. I am planning on a trip to ky in a month or so. I am on MD eastern shore. I would be heading east empty and returning with a game.

Well I know that occasionally Brett (Dptwiz) has someone that runs up here from Norfolk for cabinet pickups and dropoffs. It'd be nice if I could put something together there.

Well that guy has had that Sarge for $400 for about a year. I dont think anyone around here is going to pay him that much for that game. He seems content to sit on it.
